Y080cm came yesterday.
But i know which motor il be getting next!!!

Haha, i thought you knew something from what you mentioned in another thread.

Im certainly excited to see what might come out next.
Not just motors either.
I keep hearing rumors of a higher voltage ESC from Castle, but honestly the XLX2 is plenty capable. We don't really need a 12s ESC.

One 12s esc…
xlxmax?

Yeh ive been impressed with the xlx2.
Ive never ran a fan or cappacks on them as of yet .
I will be using them at the next Rossa event but
Will have a different motor and lipos to try.

A higher outage esc with new tp and castle speedrun motors would make 200mph a laugh for whoever could have the reaction time.
Does the RC community really want that?

I think with the 1/7 scale cars they are running they might just break the world record by a small margin.
If my car works as expected I'll break that record by 20+ mph.

Just depends if the belts and tires hold together.

Yea, if you had to set a goal, what would it be?

Yea, if you had to set a goal, what would it be?
Little goals checking the car and data logs along the way to confirm its ready for the next step.
Usually be 20mph jumps until 100mph then smaller 10mph jumps after that if possible at all. Sometimes you go out expecting 10 mph more and get 1-2 mph more. Then you re-evaluate the data and go from there.

60, 80, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150 .....

That’s the way my man!
By thw way, do you know any threads with cordova motor in them? Want to know a bit more about them.

They used to offer larger motors. Now everything is 14 series which will have less torque. That is why you don't see anyone using them anymore (except drag racers)

Supposedly the old ones were very good. Cordova had come from Neu Motors and started his own business.
I heard that his son runs it now and has not been the same since.

Kind of on the topic here but did anyone else notice/ think it was odd that McCoy, Raz and innovation rc(his was cutting out running 34/34 gearing) did their runs testing the 2400 1721 motor and getting people hyped for the motor and then after their videos posted they quickly moved on to other builds and haven’t really said anything about the motor since
???
This was my observation, I may be mistaken just wondered if anyone else noticed this. I’m wondering if they all fried the motors😁 a personal friends lasted 4 runs not running overgeared on 8s.

On the topic of a 200mph motor, a super solid battery supply to me seems just as important as the motor.
Finally somebody said it! I was thinking that it was rather odd too. I wasn’t assuming they burnt their 1721’s up though. I thought they were just trying out a new product and hyping it up for “the man”. I’ve got one and just did 81 mph on a single 4s (modded Talion EXB). I’m worried about running it on 8s (though I want to) becuase I’m great at melting Castle motors. Melted 3 1717 1650’s in the last year.
Not much talk about that castle 1721 Anymore. Glad you said it.

I’ve done melted two 1717 inside the back cap as well.
I fixed one but it doesn’t like to stop anymore.

And yea my buddies ran really hot on 8s parallel. But it was geared to realistically hit 150 and didn’t last long at all. He was pissed.
Tedd Potter has been running a slash on 6s and having success with it. 157 is his best I think.

Alright, if were saying things, ill play me role, this more relate to the 1717 1650, but it should apply to all castles
BE CAREFUL OF UR FRIGGIN ROTOR!!!!!! I had a 1520, and all i did was tap a pinion on, and bang, cracked rotor. Then i bought a 1717, and just used 2 flatheads to take a pinion that was tight off, no set screws or anything, and like that. Boom, i don't wanna see you guys gi though that, so i wanted to say the obvious, thanks for hearing my 3 cents.

Between me and my buddies that started speed running together we have gone thru our share of castle motors.
I think they are great for learning but I wouldn’t go back from Tp. I now have 6 Tp motors of different sizes and they all perform outstanding.
The log from my 4050cm this past weekend that’s rated for 5000watts made 8900watts during my runs. That’s insane from such a small motor. The motor in my gt limitless has seen over 17000 watts

In the end running fast has a lot to do with watts. Watts are what is making the car go.
This is why all the top speed runners shooting for speeds over 170mph will be running 56 or 58mm motors.

I was dreaming up a chart but it wouldn't be always correct for all scenarios....

Something like:
TP4050 - 5000 watts (up to 145 mph)
TP4060 -6000 watts (up to 150mph)
TP4070 - 7000 watts (up to 165 mph)
TP4080 - 11000 watts (upto 170 mph) (I think the wattage ratings here are a little over claimed)
TP5660 - 12000 watts (up to 175 mph)
TP5670 - TP5690 up to 15000 watts (up to 196 mph)

Liberty ima add some stuff to your chart for ya.
credits still go to @LibertyMKiii that chart seems accurate

castle 1515 - 4000 watts (125mph)
castle 1717 - 5000 watts (140mph)
TP4050 - 5000 watts (145 mph)
TP4060 - 6000 watts (150mph)
TP4070 - 7000 watts (160mph)
Cordova 4045 - 8500 watts (165mph)
castle 2028 - 10000 watts (173mph)
TP4080 - 11000 watts (170 - 175mph)
TP5660 - 12000 watts (180mph)
Cordova 2245 (the 1/5th scale one) - 13000 watts (185mph)
castle 1721 - 16500 watts (192mph)
TP 5670, 80, 90 - 17500 - 20,000 watts (my guess) - (196mph)
MGM LMT30100 - 40,000 watts - (210+ mph?)

You may not have known about Kenny. He did some big #s with the BLX2050 and Castle 2200 (1515)

Breaking the list in 2. Everyone else vs TP Power.
Speeds are a ballpark and not an exact value. (don't expect to run that speed)

BLX 2050kv/Spektrum 2050kv - 4000 watts (145 mph)
castle 1515 - 4000 watts (150mph)
castle 1717 - 5000 watts (160mph)
Castle 1721 - 10000 watts (180 mph)
castle 2028 - 10000 watts (173mph)
Cordova 4045 - 8500 watts (165mph)
Cordova 2245 (the 1/5th scale one) - 13000 watts (185mph)
Show me an MGM LMT speed run video and we can add them to the list.

TP4050 - 5000 watts (145 mph)
TP4060 - 6000 watts (150mph)
TP4070 - 7000 watts (160mph)
TP4080 - 11000 watts (170 - 175mph)
TP5660 - 12000 watts (180mph)
TP 5670, 80, 90 - 15000 watts - (196mph)

Honestly my feeling is that Neu motors are no better than TP and certainly not worth 3x the cost.

Fellas we forgot a few, and I didn’t know a bout Kenny, that is Stupid fast on a tiny motor.

More estimates that i have, all in one big list

Castle 1406 - 1500 watts (100mph)
castle 1512 - 2500 watts (120mph)
BLX 2050kv/Spektrum 2050kv - 4000 watts (145 mph)
castle 1515 - 4000 watts (150mph)
castle 1520 - 4500 watts (155mph)
castle 1717 - 5000 watts (160mph)
hobbywing 56117 - 8000 watts (165mph)
Castle 1721 - 10000 watts (180 mph)
castle 2028 - 10000 watts (173mph)
Cordova 4045 - 8500 watts (165mph)
Cordova 2245 (the 1/5th scale one) - 13000 watts (185mph)
MGM LMT30100 - 40000 watts (speed not yet proven in any manner)
TP4050 - 5000 watts (145 mph)
TP4060 - 6000 watts (150mph)
TP4070 - 7000 watts (160mph)
TP4080 - 11000 watts (170 - 175mph)
TP5660 - 12000 watts (180mph)
TP 5670, 80, 90 - 15000 watts - (196mph)

my thought are that cordova motors, and neu motors are good, but they are just too expensive.

give me 5 and I’ll round Up some ESC amperage ratings, that just as important as a good power supply from the motor.
esc amperage - its just as important and we all know it.
Lets do this.
I hope I’m right

Sidewinder micro 2 - 30 amps
mamba micro X - 40 amps
sidewinder 3 - 80 amps
mamba X - 100 amps
sidewinder sct - 100 amps
copperhead 10 - 100 amps
mamba monster 2 - 120 amps
MAX10 - 120 amps
sidewinder 4 - 130 amps
Sidewinder 8th - 150 amps
MAX8 - 150 amps
biggest firma - 160 amps
MAX6 - 160 amps
mamba monster X - 200 amps

I’ve seen 17,000 watts with my 5680 motor in my 162mph pass. Used 11,000 mah worth of 8s batteries but I’m gonna try around 9,000 mah this year see if I can get higher speeds. I have the output of power for sure.
My 4050 motor has also produced 7-9000 watts even tho it is rated at 5000.
You play with the balance of weight of the car with battery supply and what motor you choose for power but too big requires to much battery.
It’s like a big balancing act 🤣

Yea, for fun i decided to do a awesome (although really dumb) thing, and free rev my 2028
it revved to like 34K rpm on 8s, with a 11000 watt pull, not bad.
