So ive put in a few hours on this. Its proven to be a bit more challenging than i first anticipated....as usual with all projects.
I know its tough to see, but thats two sets of body posts. I bought another set of outcast post mounts and another bag of body posts. I also used a post mount they give you with the felony. Its a bit tall but it feels solid. I had to hack out the stock post holes that were incorporated in the cage to get this done.
Here are the front posts. I had to hack out two cross bars to get these to poke through correctly. Again, a bit tall but they feel solid.
Back shot.
Front shot.
Side shot.
I haven't cut anything on the orange felony body yet.....im still waiting on my new black felony body to arrive before i hack this orange one up. It will require some cutting on the wheel skirts and the side skirts. Im even going to slightly cut and re use the fireteam inner wheel house panels to keep debris out.
This is beginning to look as though im going to end up with something taller than i originally planned. My objective was to get all this on here but keep a lower center of gravity. Im going to continue the path im going and see how it handles. Im not sure if this is lighter than the fireteam body or not. I didnt weigh anything so i have no comparison.
I guess if this all fails and the body doesn't last a couple good bashes...then at least i can say i did it.
Made a tail pan out of a black plastic trash can. Its a bit too flexy...but it was light and felt pretty durable. I stuck it on there with 3m two sided tape. It seems to be pretty solid so far but it still hasnt been bashed. Ill cut the tail lights into it later.
Finally got the time to put a very good bashing session on this truck. I can happily report that no matter how much i thought this body weighed more or was going to handle poorly like the stock FT body did....i couldnt have been more wrong.
This truck handles like a dream now....no rollovers on sharp turns like it did before. I had some pretty significant body scrubbing on the body but that was no surprise as i knew it needed more trimming. I poured the onions to it and didnt let up....even barrel rolled a couple times with no ill effects. Im very satisfied with the results so far.
Heres the side skirts i put on it. Remember guys, a black plastic trash can makes a plethora of body mods.
The fancy smancy wheelie bar i put on her worked like a charm. I was doing wheelies like nobodies business. Ill be taking this rig with me to work tomorrow to bash it across the concrete apron a couple times.
Hopefully the next update will be the permanent light harness installed on it. Some of the leads need to be extended....never fails...they never seem to be quite long enough.
Not really. The only thing that really needs to be finished are the lights. I want to add a couple more lights on the front and get the tail lights in. It will require cutting the harness i bought and extending every lead going to the back of the car so that i have enough slack to properly secure it into the body shell. Ive acquired a few more RC's so my attention has been in another direction.
Well, when you get new stuff...and mix it with alcohol.....its going to be a session to remember.
I got me some proline badland tires/wheels on a trade....i ran out of there like a damn maniac on that deal.
But, the alcohol flowed, and after getting aggravated with nitro stuff....i bolted these tires up and went for a long spin.
It was getting dark...i got lights on this rig so i can see where its at in the dark...but i still hit a small tree...well because some of the judgement was out the window. I hit a tree on the edge of my property. The result v v
So, now ill fix this one with some gorilla tape...no issue there...or maybe even find a new body. Either way...and i don't remember who it was that posted here about being anal about blowing every tiny weed off your rig..or bashing the crap out of them. Im both by the way; i broke stuff. No damage to the rig itself but the body is cracked. Good times.
