So I upgraded my rear differential which got blown, full aluminum case, all steel gears, seems super good quality, however, I had to change the left side diff cup, back to the original, because it would not fit past the shock tower, put it all back together and it works great, my question is are these OEM EXB diffs ? Like straight out of a Kraton exb? I thought those had plastic cases

From that angle they kinda look like RCAWD diffs. From my experience their parts are trash hopefully you have better luck. Instead of disassembling the whole diff to change out the diff cup could you have taken out that lower shock tower bolt or at worst taken the shock towers off to get them in? Seems a lot less work.

Well I’ll be honest I was not a fan of the diff cups, they were thicker, however they were shorter, I didn’t want the driveshafts popping out of the cups, so I left one oem and one of the new ones, I want to see if I have any issues with them, if not I’ll put both in

And there not rcawd honestly I don’t see any brand on here at all, however they had great reviews on eBay for this diff so, I guess I’ll see how it goes

Was this awhile ago..
or of a recent RCAWD part(s)?

I'm going to get my hands on a RCAWD Metal Center Diff 6S soon..
Did i waste my money?

You changed an entire oil filled diff cup instead of removing a screw or 4 for the tower?

If the output pin diameter wasn’t bigger along with wider ring gear and input spiral tooth contact, it’s just a BLX 31mm diff. The one piece aluminum design won’t last long without a hardened steel insert.

It was a while ago. I'm sure some parts are fine depending on the application. Maybe they have upped there game.

Nope their stuff is still made from cheese.

They rebrand Chinese stuff as their own. But have a tendency to put their name on bad products.
HR does the same thing but, for the most part, rebrands decent parts.

Just out of curiosity what parts does Hot Racing rebrand? Up until recently I had not seen any Chinese or copy versions of Hot Racings parts. I've only seen the Chinese gearboxes and a lot of the Power Hobby parts are copies of the Hot Racing stuff.

IIRC Hot Racing, Integy and GPM used their own designs for a vast majority of their parts, the cheaper Chinese stuff was always a different design. At least I could tell their parts apart anyway.

Lmao, 😂 had great reviews on eBay! That had me roll’n those probably bots! I wouldn’t believe eBay reviews.

Just comparing photos and the few cross parts I have. Perhaps I have it wrong and HR is the og, while the others are clones. I suspect they all come from the same factory with, I hope, better qc for the HR things. Gpm, integy amd awd can be thrown into the same boat as well. Iv spent too much time and $$ on ali than I care to admit. I like to think iv bought a good understanding on what parts are worthwhile for the 3/4s kits in my journey as least...
Here's an example. But you can compare arms, shafts, hubs, links, bell cranks ect ect all day long, at least on the 3/4s line.

Stumbled across this as well, but haven't read much of the thread.

Well I had to completely change the entire diff, my oem one exploded the sun gear, and pin that holds it,
Well another

well to be fair, I’ve got turned all the way up, high speed gearing, paddle tires, and put it thru about 3 packs today beating on it, didn’t skip a beat ! So I think I might’ve gotten lucky with the quality

The design is similar but they are all still different. Now compare stuff from RCAWD to any of the other no name Chinese stuff it will be 100% the same.
I'm pretty sure most of it is made in the same factory or factories that are in close proximity to each other.
I've had far better luck with GPM than had with RCAWD. With GPM I am 1 out of probably a dozen parts I've purchased from them that was just garbage whereas everything I have purchased from RCAWD has been useless garbage hell some stuff didn't even fit.
Look at my posts in that thread.
