I'm sorry to hear that, I have a thread already about my issue. Have you opened your back diff up? I wonder if the back of the sun gear ate it like mine did. On one of many of the Kraton Facebook groups I've had a few people tell me their did the same thing. It's funny all the YouTubers who reviewed the new EXB all had glowing reviews and you can blow the diff out of the box. I'm brand new to the hobby so I have no idea what I'm doing, I just don't want it to happen again.Wow. Within 3 minutes of running it straight out the box my rear differential blew. Replacements should be here Friday …
I picked up my warrantied rear diff today and installed it. All looked good as far as i know.. Were similar in that i know these trucks inside out besides the diffs , ive not had much trouble with diffs in the past year with any of my arrmas except a straight up replacement in a 3s blx.I'm sorry to hear that, I have a thread already about my issue. Yeah i know its dumb. I heard nothing but good things about previous kraton exbs so i was thinking this version would be great out of the box but maybe they messed up with the diffs. I’m not the only person who has had diff issues within days of release unfortunately. Time will tellThat’s crazy! You shouldn’t have to baby an EXB.![]()
Good hear your new diff is working. I got my replacement diff as well and set it aside. Since I already had her opened up I went ahead and rebuilt the old diff in the Armma aluminum diff case and ran her today, Everything went great so far. I need to get out to a larger field and really go 100% throttle though.Update as of 2/28 replacement rear differential holding up fine.
Im shocked at how much fun i actually had driving this truck today it is such a beast. Before this, I only success was a fire team which I have since customized but still running on xlwb. This exb v6 performs so well it’s a lot of fun
Ugh, that is bad news. Let us know what Horizon says, see if they send you another new one. Did you find out what broke in the back diff?Hah funny thing, i been bashing the hell out of it. Its a fun truck really is but they messed up something with these diffs. The front one just went on me today now. Considering not even bothering with horizon and just getting some different diffs off ebay maybe. Any suggestions?
That is basically the same diff with the LSD plates installed and 10k diff fluid instead of 80k. It will change how your car handles. Though, in your case it would just be in the front right?Would it make a difference to use ARA310990 instead of the stock one(ARA311199).
ARA310990 is Limited Slip F/R Diff Set GP4 5mm 10k
and says compatible on hh
The most cost effective route I've found for my case is to upgrade to the aluminum diff housing. Assuming that you had the same issue I did with the pin slipping out of the back of the sungear. It's not really not too hard to do but you have to watch a few videos on diff upgrades just so you know what to do. You can have your shop do it as well since it sounds like you already have a pretty good relationship with those guy. They fixed your other diff really fast! They're $20 a pop so you can do the whole truck for $60, part ARA311061.yes. Until something else happens. I personally don't know the real difference between the 2 and what it would do to the handling. I’m just looking for an alternative to replacing the same POS diff over and over knowing its gonna break.
Honest question, i could teach myself how to rebuild the inside of the diff if i had to but, if switching to the aluminum housing, how does that change the diff other thab reinforce its shell on the outside, for my my issue was a little part on the inside got shearedThe most cost effective route I've found for my case is to upgrade to the aluminum diff housing. The rear & center diffs get really hot. Especially the center. I've had composite center diffs literally melt & fail. Right makes sense. I don’t doubt that at all. But i got my kraton exb about 10 days ago and both the front and rear diffs have now went. Arrma made a huge mistake with these specific open ones. The rear & center diffs get really hot. Especially the center. I've had composite center diffs literally melt & fail. I had the same thing happen with my mojo grom. When I got mine i think it was literally the last one on the whole interweb that hadn't been either marked up it was on backorder. I was watching the stock dwindle as I put my card info in. Stoked for you, man. And a little jealous at the same time, but that's okLocal shop said i snagged the only 1 they got in so far. Had the in stock notification turned on on the hobby town website and somehow I got the only physical one the rest are back ordered lol
