Hey thanks man. It’s an actual blast. I wish i hadn’t purchased 80% of my rcs before a kraton exb.
My typhon grom is out of service (again)
Will work on that one of these days .. can’t get enough of that one either

The aluminum diff cases are much stiffer and do not flex nearly as much when under stress. With it being stiffer it's less likely the planetary gears can get pushed outwards from centrifugal force. When they're pushed out the sun gear can travel further in and left off the pin just slightly more making a failure much more likely. In general they keep the gears where they're supposed to be much better.

Appreciate the answer. Is this what you wound up doing? I forget if you said or not.
Maybe i will go that route.

Yes, I upgraded the back diff to the aluminum case. I'm going to upgrade the others soon as well.

New owner here as well! First time owning anything 6S, and it feels like there is a lot to learn.

I had my motor mount come loose on my first real bashing session, sending it off the ramp. While in mid-air (go figure!), the motor slipped and I couldn't mid-air correct. Did a lawn dart into the grass, wing first, and broke one side of the mount :( Frustrating to say the least, but it's mostly cosmetic I suppose.

The nice thing was being able to fix the slipped motor mount in 3 seconds (no enclosed power module, hooray!) so I was back out and running. I also can't help but feel there's a slight delay in the throttle every once in a while. I'll be tossing the SLT3 anyway and putting in a receiver for my Flysky NB4, so not really an issue, just resulted in some bad landings. Maybe the punch needs a raise. Overall it's a beast for sure but after breaking my K4 a million times I still have this "take it easy" mentality before I really trust it. Especially for $800.

Reading about these diff issues, it seems like if I do encounter a blown diff, I should switch to aluminum. I assume Arrma makes them, or is there another brands others are using? Probably every company at this point as this is arguably the most aftermarket supported RC besides the Slash lol

There are indeed lots of manufactures who sell these diff cases. You obviously cannot go wrong with the one manufactured by Arrma. There are others like Vitavon, GPM and ADU, to name a few. Lots of cheaper ones on Aliexpress as well. I personally dig ADU stuff - reasonable prices and high quality.

Hello all, I'll be getting my Kraton EXB soon (V6). and have seen several people here and on other forums having issues with the diffs so figured I'd grab the metal casing in advance. Can anyone confirm if the correct part number is ARA311061 or ARA220050? They both seem to be compatible with the Kraton 6s but figure I might as well grab the one that says EXB on it (ARA311061) for a confirmed match?

For EXB - ARA311061, yep
Hey, sorry to double reply here but do you know if the center diff uses this same housing and if it is stock plastic? I’m trying to figure out if I order 2 or 3 of these.

From exploded view on the website, it only gives the full assembly part number which is of course different. It looks like center diff has metal housing but I can’t find any pic with a clear view of the housing. It only shows the spur/rear drive side in all the pics online.

They are the same. The diff exploded views are in the shoppable exploded view off to the right.

By time hh got back to me about my rear diff which was a warrantied and replaced already i told them in the email that my rear was fixed and needed 1 for the front and asked if then can send me a limited slip diff instead but kind of ignored that which im ok with and sent me this nice lil package

Honestly I’m not sure if anyone is still keeping track of this post, but as of tonight i have now blown 3 of these diffs. (ARA311199)
I still have 1 brand new one in the packaging straight from HH. Where do i go from here. I need suggestions or straight up options. There’s clearly a manufacturing error with these poop exb open diffs.

I watched this video and plan to rebuild my diffs using aluminum housings and spend the time to shim them properly.

We don’t have enough time or experience to say this would resolve your issue but if you have an hour to kill, might be worth a watch and consideration.

Did you upgrade to the aluminum diff case and it still failed?
