So its been about 4 months since I posted, I was away for most of the summer. As for the Typhon, a lot happened since the last post, .. I finally finished up the body, got it stiffened up with carbon kevlar and took it out for a run on a new road I hadn't been to before.. Got a run going, the car felt hooked up and great, was well into triple digits and as the car was far away still accelerating I lost signal.. It didn't respond to steering inputs and veered straight off the road into the tire of a parked big rig at 116 mph.. This all happened in less than 2 seconds. It stopped instantly, wedged under the tire, I think it actually lifted the tire off the ground it was under there so tight. As for the damage, the chassis is bent like a bow in the middle and almost every small metal part in the running gear and suspension is bent, most arms and shock ends, ball cups, all and torn from the mountings. I know with a new chassis and a bunch of parts from Jenny's RC and ebay I could fix it, but I'm not going to. The good news is the motor, Mamba XLX and batteries were all bolted and strapped down tight so no damage to them.. Going to use them in my new Limitless instead.. I realized later the Futaba receiver I was using was the antenna-less version, and with the body on the car it cut my range a good deal, hence the loss of signal when the car was far away. Running before during testing without any body, this was never an issue. Since the car was still accelerating strong when I lost control and hit the tire at 116 mph according to the GPS, I'm pretty sure it would have reached at least 125 to 130 mph had there been no issues.. So overall I still consider it to have been a success. And I made damn sure to use a different receiver, with an antennae, in the Limitless.. I'll post about that car in that section

Ouch sorry to hear about the crash...
Just for everyone's education - one of carbon fibers characteristics is that it can block RF and conduct electricity. This does not mean that it cannot be used on the body, but you have to make sure the antenna sticks up through the body. I typically opt to stick with fiberglass instead.

Well, that always sucks, but you got lucky no other property/people got hurt. And all your parts were in one place, instead of having to walk around with a trash bag! :)

@Notoriousone sorry to read about your wreck but it can happen unfortunately.

One thing that is a concern though is that your fail safe should have, if set up correctly, slammed on the brakes as soon as signal was lost. When doing your next build I'd make sure you check your fail safe works and is set up correctly on a bench before taking the car out.

Also you will want/need to remove "reverse" function from your XLX as otherwise with your fail safe set up for the full brake position on your remote should it ever activate it will also go into "full reverse" if reverse is still active.

Maybe add some pics of your Limtless to a thread I started here about what you've done to it: https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/what-did-you-do-to-your-limitless-today.14525/

Also worth joining some of the Limitless/Infraction groups on Facebook for more info on the models/upgrades etc.

Yup that was my big mistake here, using a antenna-less receiver in a carbon reinforced body.. I guess I figured that it being a Futaba R304 it would always get great reception, and it did, when running with no body on lol.. lesson learned

I had tested the failsafe by setting it on my Futaba 4pv, and confirmed it by running the car and turning off transmitter, it would just come to a stop. I think it was working, but as I said before it felt like it was still accelerating when it hit, so I’m not exactly sure, need to investigate this further.
