So begins the chronicle of the so called DOA Fury.
Received as a disheveled mess to the determined enthusiast.
In 1 night only parts were reassembled, corrosion was cleaned, old batteries charged, and a quick body wipe down.

She lives.

And yet, to merely live is not what is desired, but to thrive. To prove one’s worth amidst the myriad of newer and better.

A test drive. I glimmer of the former self. A glimpse into what can and will be the future.

Hope.

Many hours await and into the depths we must go to bring the machine into its former glory. Take apart cleanse rebuild remove replace grease fill tweak improve tune Run.

To start, a dang battery that’s not nihm or 10 years old.

If you’ve read this far, thank you.
It will be a slow build, but there is lots of maintenance and cleaning before anything new goes in. I prefer running stock and learning a truck before I mod anything.

This will be my build thread. There will be more tales to tell. This is our story my precious.

I really wish Arrma would have kept this line but either HH made them axe it or they lost their molds during the Hobbico debacle. After HH bought Arrma Jason mentioned on Facebook that they no longer had the molds or tooling to make the parts.

What happened with Hobbico? Haven’t been in RC too long so this is the first I’m hearing

Long story short they mishandled their finances very poorly, ended up $50,000,000 in debt then filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. All of their assets were sold off with HH buying Axial, Arrma, Tactic, dBoots, Duratrax and Dromida.

If you need any tips or advice on it, do a search using my screen name and Fury, you will find a bunch of useful info on them, such as parts needed to upgrade the rear if it's the metal diff, and the right Traxxas links to get rid of the pop off prone plastic links. I am currently restoring/rebuilding/upgrading my 5TH one. I have also had several original Raider XL's, Mojaves and Vorteks.

This is one of my unfinished builds, https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/my-arrma-fury-long-term-build-project.56608/ and this is the one I'm currently doing, https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/yet-another-fury-to-build.67168/#post-1133330 as for the front steering links, I do have a post on one of the forums that shows the part number for the correct Traxxas links, but I will have to dig for it. I mostly worry more about the rear, because every time that link comes off, you lose the dogbone, which is a pain, and, so far, I haven't found anyone that makes CVD's that will fit it.
