Hello . Can anyone advise on the best kV rating for brushless conversion on a vorteks boost . It will be running on 2S lipo and i don’t need anymore top speed than 30 mph . I have been looking at the surpass hobby 3650 motor / 60amp esc combos . But I don’t know what kv would be best to get ? They have 3300kv 4370kv and 4500kv motors all use the same 60 amp esc . Any help greatly appreciated.

I put surpass hobby 60a esc and 3300 kv in an old Kyosho dbx. Runs 2s. There is some stutter/cogging at startup, but as it gets going, it's all good. Scale on the car is 1/10. Not sure how much it weighs compared to the vortex.

I'm happy with the setup, and my 6yo son enjoys it alot.

I believe 3200kv is stock, 3660 can (36 mm around, 60 mm long). The stock BLX100 is definitely decent. Only 43 bucks or so on Jennysrc.com. I like the surpass rocket motors the most. They seem to last longer than the stock ones and are affordable to at 35 to 50 bucks.

For a Vorteks I would get a 3665, 3000-3200kv motor. Vorteks is a short wheelbase car and if you put anything bigger then a 65mm can, it’s a tight fit. You can get an upgraded ESC like a 120 or 130 amp for around 75-80 bucks off Jenny’s. But the stock blx100 will be just fine. Just don’t get less than a 100 amp esc. There’s a saying, you can cheap out on the motor but not the ESC. Oh, don’t get smaller than a 3660 motor or higher than 3300 KV.

You’ll also need to upgrade the motor mount, spur, and pinion. Being a boost model, additionally you need to upgrade the servo and get a receiver/radio. I like the S652 serveo off of the 6s line. It’s an easy swap and fits the stock 23t servo saver. $20 on Jenny’s. You can get a stock transmitter and receiver for between 20 and 30 bucks or you can get a much better Dumbo set up for 40.
