I use the one below on eBay. Less than $60. Brushless and specs pretty good. Have been using in Nero and Outcast no problems so far (6 weeks) so we'll see over time. Also on Outcast it doesn't flex like plastic stock servo with rubber washers, I think they greatly contribute to flex.

EVO P2 BRUSHLESS Digital, High-Voltage, WaterProof, Ultra-High-Torque, High-Speed, Stainless Steel Gear Servo. Ultimate Racing and Bashing Servo for 1/8 and most 1/10 Scale Gas, Nitro and Electric Vehicles, Watercraft and Large Aircraft. Excellent upgrade for 1/5 Throttle/Brake Servo.

31kg.cm of Torque and .048sec Speed @ 8.4v!!!

    • Brushless Motor - Made in Japan
    • Voltage: 4.8V - 8.4V
    • Speed: 0.10sec/60° (6.0V), 0.07sec/60° (7.4V), 0.048sec/60° (8.4v)
    • Torque: 18.2kg/cm (6.0V), 24.8kg/cm (7.4V), 31.4kg/cm (8.4v)
    • Dimensions: 40x21x38.5mm
    • Weight: 68g
    • Case: CNC black anodized aluminum case
    • Gear: Stainless Steel Gears

Did you need a BEC or anything with this?

This is gonna sounds crazy, but the servo in my Kraton stripped the servo gears within 5 sessions, I ordered a servo on amazon for 25$ Canadian. I believe it called an annimos 20kg waterproof digital servo. I noticed an instant improvement from the stock v3 servo. Been out quite a few times since I installed it, for 25$ u can’t go wrong, stock servo horn also fits

Savox 2290 700 oz servo is on sale at dluxfab.com for $120. Smoking deal on a $160 servo. It's what I use in my kraton. It moves the earth beneath the kraton.

I bought one of these and immediately bought another! Performance 100% had them both over a year of Bashing not 1 issue. I will keep buying this brand for my upcoming models!
Evo P2 servo gets my vote!

That is definitely a nice servo, but on 6v, it's actually 555.5oz.in of torque, and not the quickest at .16 secs.

If looking at super high end servos, the Protek RC 370TBL on 6v, has more torque (600oz.in) & is faster .135secs. Another bonus, is it is also waterproof. Not sure if there is a better waterproof servo available:

Good price, but it looks like it only operates on 5v & 6.8v, not 6v like Arrma does?

Thats not how voltages in motors work, if the servo says 5v and 6.8v it will work anywhere within those voltages. Just don't expect it to last long if you feed it a higher (or lower) voltage. Low volts are auctally a bit worse than over, reason being.... lower volts the motor in the servo will draw higher amps to do the job and it will be slower and weaker. Higher voltage on a motor lowers the amperage it will need to do the task, and increase the speed and strength of the turning power. However use the highest voltage you can within its specs and it will be a happier motor. And the life will last longer (in theory).

I am a 20 year Industrial Electrician is why i know this, i change voltages and rewire motors on presses or anything in that industry, if a motor is capable of different volts we ALWAYS use the higher voltage when its available.

If your bec is adjustable.....BONUS! I use MMX's becausr i can change the bec voltage.

Now on a cheap tower pro mg996r and tower pro t mg 958 I had fed tjese both 8 volts(its over their spec) just because i did not care if they liked it or not and i like to experiment and tjey both did not fail! These are under $20. And at 8 volts they preformed great for what they are.
I wouldn't do this to an expensive servo and I DO NOT SUGGEST overpowering unless you don't mind smoking it. I didnt care and was pretty sure it would hold

They work to this day! But they are on the bench...
Keep it in the rated specs but if you have an adjustable bec take it to the highest.

Long story i know but i hope this helps you and a few out there.

Great info Killer Kraton as I thought you would have to run an external BEC to use your servo. Reading the specs on some servos, it looked like they might operate on certain voltages only, but makes sense, the servo will work "within" those voltages.

Speaking of Towerpro, the Towerpro MG968 Digital Titanium gear servo definitely looks worthwhile to check out. It's brushless, coreless and has 347oz.in torque at .13 secs. These are good numbers for only a $28 servo. The other bonus, is if you look at this servo specs, etc, it is a "rebadged' Hitec 7955TG titanium gear servo. I still have the Hitec 7955TG, and now using in my Talion. It was Hitec's top servo back in the day, and a favourite of many, and still sells for close to $100-$120.

If anyone is looking for a waterproof servo, the Turnigy WP23 is worth a look. It's digital, titanium gears, waterproof and is 319oz.in torque at .12 secs for only $40.

Cool I did not know it was rebadged from somewhere! Nice.

I think i bought mine from banggood or that ali app or whatever it was.
I think i got the cheaper one for $5 from China and i want to say $19 for the better one.
These are great though i have them in case of the BREAKAGE! that always occurs in the begining of our bash sessions where we traveled with

Problem with that is if you plan to run it on the stock blx BEC, none of these servos will produce much torque. The stock blx BEC sucks. It can not provide the current demanded by a powerful servo. That Savox servo will stomp a mudhole in the protek servos, and I am not even a fan of Savox. Most of my servos are tekin high torque servos and holmes hobbies high voltage servos that can be wired directly to a 4s battery.

I run a small 2S 950mah battery to run the rx and servo in my Kraton. All the torque you could ever need. The batteries are only 3 or 4 bucks on hobbyking. Performance has been stellar.

I know the stock BEC is not good, but bummer, I did not realize it's that bad. However, I'm not really into running an extra battery just to run my servos (my nitro days are over LOL). Just curious, where do you put your 2S servo Lipo? Any pics with it on your Arrma & what is the weight?

I've been using the Hitec 7955TG Titanium gear servo in my V3 Talion and it seems to work well. Last week, I ended up ordering the Turnigy TGY-WP23 titanium gear "waterproof" servo for my V3 Kraton. It was only $40 for a fully waterproof servo that has 320oz.in torque @.12 secs on 6v. I decided to go waterproof so I could bash my Kraton even when it snows. Both of these servos I have are low voltage, so gather I should not have any problems with the stock BEC? Unfortunately, this newer servo from Turnigy I just ordered did not have any reviews yet...

I'll try to get a picture tonight. It is the turning 950mah 2s pack. The thing weighs about as much as the castle Bec (good option also) and it's slightly larger. I just set it on top of my 6s pack and strap in under one cross strap and the long strap. Already put her over 8 ft in the air and 20 ft or so long jumps with no problems.

If you don't want to deal with a little battery, just throw in a castle Bec. You will surely grin with the new found power in your steering.

Good luck

I use the bluebird bls h50b. Moves everything even the planet earth.

http://www.rcmart.com/blue-bird-bls...ss-digital-servo-p-67626.html?cPath=1099_1030
Very nice. I checked out a lot of servo specs, and definitely these are great numbers for torque/speed for 6v + maybe the best looking servo I've seen so far. Only downfall maybe is it's one of the heaviest servos at 83g weight. If I do get another servo and want planet moving torque, this Bluebird is definitely on the top of my list. Great find...

I notice Castle's BEC's weigh approx 11-21g & your Lipo is that light? If I got a HV servo &/or one with more than 400oz.in torque, I'm sure I would have had to get an external BEC, but with the 2 low voltage servos I'm using (Hitec 7955TG & Turnigy WP23), I gather I should be just fine with the stock Arrma BEC and would not notice a big difference even if using an external BEC? Would a Glitch Buster only help if having large power spikes affecting the servos operation? Hopefully, I will be ok as is...

Not sure what the stock Bec can provide, but the 7955 will pull between .3 amps at no load and 4.3 amps at stall. So the stock bec will definitely have problems providing that current demand. I believe you would see a beneficial improvement in both torque and speed with the castle BEC. It's only 25 bucks and the weight is negligable. I'm personally not worried about a few grams in the center of the chassis on a rig this heavy. I would worry more about the weight of the driveline, the wheels and tires in particular. But I digress. I stand by the fact that the stock Bec is crap and an external battery or Bec is required for optimal performance.

Finally got one of these in based on this recommendation. Drop shipped from China via Amazon. On the BLX 185 (6V) this servo can hardly turn the front wheels. Wheels up it is very fast and quiet but totally unacceptable torque at 6V. I wrote a scathing review on Amazon (will show as verified purchase) pending approval. Need Amazon to register it got delivered so I can start the refund process.

Yeah I've not heard much good about those P2 servos.
