  1. 4x4-Mega
Hey guys, I just picked up a granite 4x4 earlier this week and so far I’ve loved it. I’ve only ran it a few times and yesterday we got a few inches of snow so I took it out and had a blast doing donuts and such. But this morning I was getting ready to take it out and turned it on and noticed when I turned the wheel left and right it makes this loud clicking sound. I’m new to rc cars but I’m guessing it’s the servo or the gears in the servo? I heard they’re not the best stock. I don’t see any damage externally with any of the steering links. I was planning on upgrading to the ads-7m eventually but was just looking for second opinions. Thanks!

Sounds like striped gears in servo to me since the stock servo has plastic gears.

That’s what I figured. Guess I’ll just order the upgraded one

the servo was the first thing I replaced after one run .so I went with tsx55 tatic servo

I used this in both my boys Mega's

Bolted right in and seems pretty tough.

I also ordered servo horn kits (https://www.arrma-rc.com/part/AR340131) and the replacement comes with an optional stronger servo saver (15kg, I think rather than the 7kg stock one), that seems to have eliminated the accidental servo saver tripping my sons kept getting.

That servo seems just as fast as stock and connected right up.

TT

Got the servo replaced with a Radiant MG servo from the LHS. Running good as new! Really wasn’t that bad of an upgrade to do and it feels a lot more solid now. Thanks for the help guys! On to the next one.
