What would be a good motor for lower temps? I’m running a 130 spectrum esc. I am happy with stock speed and torque range for now, just looking for lower temps.
Thanks y’all.

Yep I love my Hobbystar 2400kv motors! Here's my Bigrock build thread for some help. If you go with the 6.5mm bullet motor obviously you'll need to solder on females to the esc or desolder the 6.5mm and solder on 4mm. Think it also comes in a different version that has 4mm but is only like 1900, 2050 and 2650kv. https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/edoughs-rc-bigrock-build.41205/

Thanks buddy!
Thanks buddy!

I’m trying to avoid too heavy of a motor. Are the 4068 motors much heavier than the standard 3650? And is there plenty of room to install one on the short wheelbase?
Thanks again, I’ve never tried any motor besides stock so I want to make sure I get this right.

Mine fits fine in my Granite as it's just 8mm longer than stock 60mm. The stock spektrum motor is 289g, and the 4068 2400kv with 6.5mm bullets is 345g for the one I have. The other "waterproof" version that comes with 4mm bullets is 305g and available in 1700, 1900, 2050 and 2650kv.

Which version comes with the 4 mm bullets? I’m having trouble finding it, if you have a link that would be great if not no worries I’ll keep looking.

Here's the one with 4mm bullets https://www.rcjuice.com/hobbystar-4068-4-pole-brushless-sensorless-motor-waterproof.html
Also for fitment here is a picture of my Granite with the 4068 👍🏼 and coupon for $5 off $50 order HVG93PT

I'd almost go with the 2650kv and run a 14t on 4s. Or 2050kv with a 18-20t👍🏼

Thanks! I am going to stick with 3S for now. I was thinking the 2650 KV and 17t pinion to start? It’ll be fun experimenting, Ive never really messed with motors before. Just rebuilt my first one (stock) and with doing that all intermediation/hesitation is gone, I am enjoying it.

So this is for my Big Rock BLX v3 with Firma 130A ESC but it would be the same if I were going to do the same for my Granite BLX.

I purchased this and installed it but have not tested it. When I asked the same question for replacement 3S basher motor I was told: HobbyStar 3670 Waterproof Brushless Motor 3050KV

I have not run it because the stock 15T pinion would not fit on the HobbyStar shaft although the same size as the stock motor but the flat shaft area is a different shape from Arrma. Arrma made it so it would not fit I assume. My Robinson 18T and 17T pinion ordered arrived I will run the 18T with a Game Changer fan I have on the motor. The same setup Rich Duperdash ran on BR 3S BXL100 ESC with no motor fan on his Dec '20 YT video and it was rolling!

Yep hate the Safe D pinions from Arrma. You can dremel the flat spot on the pinion a tiny bit and they will fit I've had to do it several times.

I have the same esc that I just put in. That’s similar to the other motor I’m looking at, the one you mentioned. Except I think I was looking at a 2850 KV. That and the 4068 edough has in his. I can’t quit swing the motor (over extended for Xmas) yet so I got them saved in cart and thinking about it until I can pull the trigger. It may come down to weight. I think there’s close to 80g difference between the two motors. My granite is the one that I really like to jump at the skate park so I’m trying to keep it on the lighter side.

So dremaling the flat spot on an arrma pinion can help it fit another motor? Thanks for the hint @Edough13, I could try that. Hmm, I actually have a Robinson 17t pinion though…

Thanks guys, much appreciated!

In my Typhon 3s I run a Surpass 3670/2850 motor with a Robinson Racing 15T pinion powered by a Firma 130A ESC running on a 5200mah 3s battery. I can make full throttle runs for over ten minutes and neither the motor nor the ESC ever gets too hot to touch. I could have gone higher on the pinion and still had low temps, but when I originally put it on I didn't have the space I have now to run my Typhon.

Thanks!! Which surpass is it? Got a link or pic of you don’t mind? I appreciate the feedback.
