I fell to the pressure and had to get myself the new Grom BLX version of the Typhon. I absolutely love the Typhon platform and people have been saying this car is incredibly fun. I had to see for myself. At first, I didn't really see the need, I mean, I have three buggies already. BUT once I realized that this Typhon is the perfect size car to travel with, I had to get it. I frequently travel for work and I've toyed with the idea of taking a buggy with me, but an 1/8th scale, plus the charger, big batteries.. It would become a bit of a hassle.
This car, however, has such a light footprint that I would be able to travel with it easily, and get to try it out in some neat places. So the goal for this build is to enjoy this car in different states and take some neat photos, so enjoy!

Here it is! The elusive blue
Typhon Grom which was sold out online and basically everywhere I checked. Luckily my LHS had just gotten a stack of blue Groms. He told me they sell like hot cakes. They're probably already gone.

Initial impressions: Very impressed. I really like how this is basically a fully upgraded brushed model right out of the box. In my opinion, it is very fairly priced for what you get. The aluminum shocks, metal gears, axles, and little aluminum touches make for a really quality feeling vehicle. It really does look like a scaled down 6s Typhon. And I have to say, this new clipless body design is phenomenal. The body fits so snug on the chassis and looks really sleek without body posts sticking through it. I kind of wish all of my Typhons were this way. The smaller radio is also appreciated, because it will take less space up to travel with.
I have some upgrades in mind for this car, and since I'm not racing this one it will get more of an experimental treatment, sort of like my 3s Typhon.

The first drive proved its worth! This thing is incredible for its size. Even on 2s this thing has so much punch, I was sliding around effortlessly. Turning DSC off makes for a real fun drive. I think some truggy wheels would do this car a lot of justice for taller grass, but as-is the performance on dirt was wonderful. Watching this thing kick up clouds was a blast.
Next up will be some basic checks, diff and shock fluids, and some small mods while I wait for parts.
