Old thread but still very applicable.
Above 90F I'd go with S7, for 60-90F S4 or S5 (or XM5 is the new name)and below 60F I'd use S2'ish.
I'm mainly on S5 as I don't drive much above 90F ambient as asphalt is in the 120F from the get go and driver would want an AC upgrade ;)

There are also the Chinese hoons which are pretty decent, search for 'choons'. Just don't use them below 60F, the plastic will crack. For myself, ran through 2 sets and the cost difference plus shipping delays wasn't worth it but they are good. Stick with one company to get used to the handling.

I understand the compound applications, what I’ve been asking ppl is if the softer compounds will RIP or BLOW OUT easier than the harder compounds? Is an S1 rated for the same speeds as an S7?

To my knowledge, compound has no impact on tires blowing out. Hope that helps.
The only difference is traction.

With that said, the softer ones will wear faster at higher temps, but for speedruns you shouldn't be using worn tires anyway.

I keep hearing that…. But I’ve also heard that softer heats up easier and will blow out. As to s1s2 good for 60 mph.. s3s4
85mph -100mph s5-s7 130-150mph… I mean you’ll just have to buy them all and find out for one’s self.🤷‍♂️ got 3 and 4 Revo on the way…. I read on one of the retailers store that the slicks are 98mm x 41mm rather than 99x42 but I couldn’t get anyone to confirm that, they only answered part of the question. But I hope that was a huge typo bcs that’ll suck.

I have some used 17mm GRP GTV02-S7 from 2019 that measures about 96mm that I just put on an infraction to try for the first time. They maybe have 10 or so 3s packs ran thru them on 2wd and 4wd slashes I added 17mm hexes to over the years. That infraction sits really low now.

Agree with @jkflow regarding GRP's wear throughout the line, I originally assumed I'd get far MORE wear with the softer (1-3) vs the harder (5-7) but to my surprise they have all lasted about the same length of time for me regardless of what I'm doing with them or which car.

That’s awesome man😎.. I wanted to order
mx7 in slick and mx 4,2 Revo but only got
5&4 Revo bcs island hobby’s sight was the only sight that said slicks were 1mm smaller so I had doubts. I ended up ordering somewhere else bcs I asked about that detail but they didn’t answer my questions in my email. I went to ebay.. does anyone else on here shop elsewhere?
Here are two types of slick and one type of REVO. You’ll notice at the bottom of each slick it’s 1mm smaller in height and in width.

They all sell the same GRP tires, which are made in Italy. If a place shows slightly different specs it is most likely just a typo.
Above 2 sites typically have lowest price including shipping. Both sell on ebay as well and might have different prices, always pays to shop around.

Just bought a pair in LHS yesterday out of desperation and paid $35/pair
 :cautious: Order ahead and plan ahead, saves money.
