That is a Gigante body, no Ford Supercab. I saw several Gigante body’s on eBay, thought you where in search of the supercab specifically.
That was the first of any of the Savage XL bodies I could find. If I can't find the Supercab that will probably to be my fallback.

Little progress past days, some preparation for painting the body. I 3D printed some roofsliders and a grille piece for the GTLX-1 body. I think it came out pretty well, more unique then a grille decal.

Final part of my “FT build” … found some time to paint the body. First step is applying the windowmasks and masking the parts of the body for the secondary color. Funny enough the body comes with rear window decal, but not with a rear window mask. I used the window decal to make my own rear windowmask.

Masking the curves of the wheelarches is always difficult, surely after so many years of not painting lexan body’s.

As I have not painted a body in over a decade, I decided to keep it fairly simple and use some modest colors for the FT. Because of the grey and black decals that come with the kit I chose white to be the main color of the truck and use black for the bed, bumpers and wheelarches.

Finished …

You should sell these!

Well as the FT is “done” and I have it temporarily sitting on the workbench, I am looking at possibilities to change the stock Fireteam rear bumper for a custom 3D printed one or one from another model. I think the front bumper is OK for this body. But at the rear there is room for improvement.

I don’t want to make it a real big job. If I can come up with something simple, and I feel it will be strong and durable enough, I will pursue it.

I have doubts if 3D printed parts are good enough for use as a bumper.
Question for the 3D printers on AF: What filament would be the best choice for a bumper ?

TPU

Thought so … I got a Ender 3 V2 with the stock Bowden extruder. I do not have a direct drive extruder for flexibile filament.

The body, the paint job, the stance, it all looks like it belongs, and it all looks like it was a factory job.

Thanks for the kind words (y) real happy with the outcome.

This got nothing to do with the FT directly … but indirectly it does.

So to be able to even make a bumper out of TPU if I decide to do so, I ordered the Unitak direct drive conversion kit for the Ender 3 V2. It is supposed to be compatible with the single gear Bowden extruder which is stock on my printer.

I also ordered the dual Z-axis kit to cope with the added weight of the direct drive extruder on the X-axis. First Amazon purchases I ever made, hope the items will be here soon.

The monochrome color scheme looks really nice on that body. I couldn't find any Savage XL bodies so I opted for the brute :)

I'll be watching this one..
Let us know how the direct drive works out for you.

The Dual Z -
1. check to make sure it's straight and
2. Align the height with your current one when you install it and
3. pay attention to how the new thread rod rotates, match it with your current one.

I did not come around to upgrading the printer yet as I was busy with developing a few 3D printed parts that makes my life easier. When bashing with my daughter I almost always end up carrying all cars as she always complains about sore hands when she has to carry the Big Rock back to the car.

So in order to make carrying off the 3S Arrma’s more comfortable I designed a carry-handle, with the heavy 6S cars we have the same issue so also designed a 6S carry-handle for our Notorious’.

I am now offering them for sale here in the Netherlands. This proces was fun but very time consuming, working out design issues, printing the prototypes and make revisions on the designs. Also learning my way in slicer software and altering g-code files was fun, but also frustrating when ironing out the issues did not go as expected.

Anyhow below the parts I have worked on past month, I don’t expect much of it but we will see if it brings me something.

Tell me what you think …

This has to be the best looking Fireteam I've ever seen. I can't stop looking at it. Great job sir!
