So I tried posting a video I’m gonna tag the link to my YouTube, I know this is a arma forum, but I’m not a traxxas fanboy, my girl got it for me for Christmas so, I turn the arma guys for help, it’s 100 percent stock, mini maxx, violent cogging if you throttle it hard at a stop, like violent, I find this hard to believe that’s how it is oem, anyone else have one? Or know a fix? Also no it’s not the tires, it did it with oem tires as well, I just bought these and thought it looked cool on here, anything helps, thanks

I’m pretty sure that this model has a slipper clutch which could be loose and slipping. Notice it only makes the noise when you punch it versus just crawling it forward. Since you put those rather large wheels it creates extra load on the drivetrain and then the sudden punch causes it to slip.

My recommendation is to tighten the slipper but also have the expectation that those big tires will probably lead to something breaking down the line. You could try and soften the blow with the traxxas center diff upgrade but it might just not be enough.

That almost sounds like the mesh is loose between gears. How hard is it to see the pinion?
It is 100 percent not the mesh, I’ve tighten it, loosened it, not a single gear has skipped once, that’s what I thought as well, it’s defiantly the motor tho, also, if I continue to stutter it, it gets extremely hot

sounds like your diffs are stripped to me. don't think those tyres are helping 😄

That sound in your video is not cogging, that’s gears slipping and grinding.
Cogging predominantly happens at low throttle, when trying to crawl for example.

Take it apart and check.

I know you said its not the tires but if it is a cogging issue the tires are definitely contributing. Is it stock gearing? Does it cog on the bench or only under load?

Put the stock tires on and try again. The oversized tires Traxxass put on out of the box are already too much for 30mph as it is snapping their pot metal gears.

Maybe sleep off some of the brilliant ideas and reevaluate upon awakening.

I'd guess the rear diff is blown..gears stripped an not cogging your hearing..I've seen those have weak diffs an them tires probly killed rear diff

Thanks for everyone in here replying, after saying screw it and buying a hobby wing esc and motor for it, issue has completely resolved itself, not sure if I just so happend to get a bad motor? But it was in fact the motor cogging, with, and without the big tires, the big tires defiantly made it worse tho lol

It was in fact cogging, I put a max10 and 3300kv hobby wing sensored motor in it, and issue has resolved, gears never skipped once, not sure if maybe I got a defective motor or something, but again new electronics fixed it completely

It’s possible that you got the motor too hot with those tires and destroying the magnets. As much as you don’t want to believe that the tires weren’t the problem they absolutely contributed to it.

I am glad you got it fixed and your gears are fine, hard to differentiate between sounds on a video.👍

But I stand by what I said, that’s not cogging in your video.
Cogging happens at low speeds/start up only.
