I’ve narrowed down my motor choices to these 2 either a 9D wind or a 5Y for my XMaxx build…. Both have literally the same ratings at 1150KV, 175A & 48V so I’m wondering which would be best for my application & what if any real world differences there would be between the 2?

I’m going for a light weight but high powered XMaxx build. TP5650 motor, Max 6 esc & just a few durability upgrades (RPM hubs, CEN pins, sleeved drive cups, etc)

I really appreciate the help fellas.

I always go for the y-wind.seam to run cooler an more power imo

I run a TP 5840s 1150kv 5y motor in my Xmaxx, it's a ripper
DLK83 i really appreciate your input man…. Can i ask you what esc are you running & how you have it geared?

Thank you sir!

I believe there's a a few videos on Utube with 5660s in xmax.5660 have more power, run cooler for little more cash
Appreciate your input but that’s more motor than I’m interested in. I’m sure it’s more powerful but it’s also heavier.

A 5660 would look great in my K8 though!

Not to sidetrack the thread, but here are some pics of the rpm front hubs. They flex too much and end up like this. Not broken, but the steering sure suffered..

I have the 5660 in the traxxas XRT though it's not exactly an xmax. I love it though, tbh I'm tempted to go up to the 5670. Out of the choices you listed I would go for the Y wind just because it should be a little easier on the max 6
