Yea if the case is cracked if could be letting the diff it self bounce. And maybe as said above the it chipped the pinion gear. No! But I will pull it after dinner…
And ur spur gears not missing any teeth?Pulled both pinions.. nothin!
I am talking about the front and rear spur gears?Nope. The pinion was a bit worn.. put on 16T still ticks…
How's the mess u got any shims on the cup bearing to push the diff tighter to ur ring pinion?Intact…
Thanks for the tips! Gonna let er rip!^^^ Agree
Run it, have fun, the problem may surface and become more apparent to you later.
Seems like a shimming or backlash issue though. A ticking/clicking sound is usually a skipping Main/Input gear. (F or R)
Usually heard under load or hard braking. It could be intermittent at times.
Sometimes a bulkhead replacement is the remedy along with a new gear set, if they got worn beyond use. Always replace gears in sets.
Worn Input gear BB's can contribute to this issue also. Check them closely.
Just got both gears and a diff kit.Yeah you need a main gear and input gear set. Need a fresh set. Time to rebuild the whole diff if you have some mileage on it. You are in there already. At least top off the diff oil while you are there. Check the 2 BB's at the Input gear also. Replace them or clean and lube them. Drop of oil. They probably got abused in the process. Often overlooked. Check them first by rocking the input cup as attached to the input gear. Side play will mean they are toast. Been there many times.
