It may be stressed past it’s opening limits. Next time it comes off, give it a squeeze with vice grips, etc, carefully. They make a tool for this but I’ve never tried it.

Is this for your Outcast? Perhaps your local shop has some.

For the Kraton. Didn't want to squeeze it past its limits the other way. Definitely will try that, and ask about the tool next time I hit the Hobby Shop$!.

You don't really need it. It's only on there to capture the pinion if it becomes lose. If you used locktite on the pinion grub screw and let it set for 24 hours you'll be fine without it.
You're right! I actually did that, and when I checked after a run the clip was gone and the pinion still in place.
