Just put a hobbystar 4076 1700kv in my talion. I'm running an 18t pinion. I took the truck out tonight for its first run on 6s. Pretty happy with the outcome. However the motor got pretty hot. A lot hotter then the arrma 2050 ever got with a 16t pinion...
Could I be geared to high?
Any insight would be helpful

That’s unusual. The 1700kv being a longer can should run cooler, and a 1700kv on an 18T is still less speed than a 2050 on a 16T. Is the gear mesh too tight? (I know, basic question I don’t wanna offend but you never know!)

With a setup like that the motor, on the unlucky side may be running the same as the original motor, but SHOULD be running cooler than the original 2050. Id say if it’s running hotter and everything is correct... no binding or anything... the motor could have some build problems

Gear mesh seemed good. Sounded fine. I'll take it apart and put everything back together again... See what happens
