I'm short one motor for one of my rc cars. Gonna switch around some motors and will need one for my KEXB. Having a Max8 installed, i narrowed it to three motors:

Hobbystar 4282 1600kv 130amp
Leopard 4282 1680kv 100amp
Leopard 4282 2000kv 110amp

Right now I have a blx2050kv with the Max8 14T pinion and dig it. Plenty of speed for me and no heat issues.

Was leaning towards the Leopard 2000kv since it's close to what's in there now.

I have a couple 36mm Hobbystar motors that work great but never owned a Leopard motor.

Anyone have any input on these motor options? Thanks in advance

I found a sweet deal on a brand new Leopard 4082 2000kv not so long ago. Did some research and Leopard is a reputable brand. Bought it a a backup motor and as soon as the Kraton’s 2050kv or DR8’s 2000kv, both 4274, needs replacing the Leopard goes in! FYI, Leopard states it uses high speed Japanese bearings. I replaced those ‘Japanese’ bearings that stated ‘Thailand’ 🤔with ceramic ones.
Are you sure the Leopard 4282 2000kv is 110amp, my 4082 2000kv stated max140amp?
After reading user experiences, the 4082 2000kv has a little bit more power than the stock 2050kv.

Thanks for the info! On the RC juice website it shows as 110amp, maybe it's a typo? Need to click on details to see the specs

"Leopard 4282 V2 4-Pole Brushless Sensorless Motor" https://www.rcjuice.com/leopard-4282-v2-4-pole-brushless-sensorless-motor-for-1-8-scale.html

Aha, you are looking at the v2, which indeed shows 110amp.
I have the V1

Oh good to know haha! The Hobbywing 2200kv is 120amp but I had a heating issue in tall grass. Might of been the heatsink though, wasn't really form fitting on the motor.

Not sure what the blx2050kv amp draw is but the stock blx185 ESC is 150amp which is most likely a rebranded Max8.

10amps less with the Leopard on the Max8 would probably give the ESC less stress and less heat. Plus the red anodizing will match the the towers and braces 😂

You’re right, heatsink should fit tight on motor otherwise I can act as a ‘shell’ actually leading to a hotter motor!
I use a thermal pad between the motor and heatsink for tight fit and heat transfer👍
