I do run the 800kv hobbywing in my Kraton 8s, it is a tight fit, I also trimmed the steering rack a little as @KevinC mentioned above... is shaving a bit of plastic really that big of a deal? Isn't tinkering around half of the hobby?

23t is way too small of a pinion for the 800kv coke can. I run a 44t pinion with the 47t spur and am quite happy with it. Also, running a bigger pinion will require the motor to be positioned further outwards, meaning you'll have to shave down even less.

How are your temps with that gearing? Do you run any fans? Ever measured top speed?

thanks!

Weather has been pretty cold the last few months, even did a few snow-bashing sessions, so temps have not been an issue. On a hot summer day, there have been times where I had to let it cool down a bit between packs, but still within the safe range. A few guys are running 1:1 ratio which would be even harder on the motor, maybe they can chime in with their temperatures...

I once clocked the vmax on a wet grass field, I think I landed somewhere around 56-60mph (with proline trenchers on it, little bit bigger than stock tires in diameter). But about time I'd do a speedtest again :)

Edit: Currently no fans on the motor.

I also run the 56113 in a non-EXB Kraton v1.5.
But before I got the 56113, I upgraded the steering assembly to the GPM aluminium one.
With that steering assembly the motor fits without rubbing or trimming, but it is very close though.

It's fits but I did shave the arm anyways this thing is a Beast

Shaving down a part on a new truck isn't a option for me. The 5687 1100KV puts out the same output Watts so other than a little more torque on the 800KV to me it's not worth shaving down a new truck. I'll just get the 1100KV motor.
I just did the upgrade on my V1 K8S from stock to Max 5 / 5687 and love it !!! Plenty fast / torque and all being conservative on a 27t pinion , GPS it did 54 mph . Fits in there easy , IDK , maybe jump to a 29t later for fun ?

Just picked up the 800kv and I'm trying to find a twin fan mount for HobbyWing 800kv aah I like saying that A HOBBYWING 800KV 🥳😷🤡 now comes the dreaded shipping time ⏲️

But yeah please any twin fan mount ideas

this is what I did for the stock Arrma heat sink I tapped 2 hole each fan to 6/23

There's a cheap double fan on bangood for under $20 that will work as well as th castle 2028 fan wimich is also relatively inexpensive. Bolth plug into the esc so no extra battery or the weight that goes along with it and since these 800kv motors run cool even on 1/1 gearing it should work well. I am gonna order the castle fan because its a little better qaulity and anything from bangood takes a mother to ship good luck. My EXB is coming in tomorrow.

If the motor comes out farther can you use both motor mount screws? Seems like you won't be able to use both screws.

I just purchased these for my 8S. They do beautiful work and the motor mount is fantastic. Bought one for the ESC and two for the motor they put out 7200 RPM.

I'm running the HW Max5 56113/800kv with 47/44. Temps are good with no fans so far, but it hasn't been very warm out yet! 🤷‍♂️

Do the fans come looking like that with carbon fiber, red screw, the battery wiring?
