Typhon Hobbywing Max8 combo 2200kv

Hello all,

Anyone gone for the Max8 Combo on the typhon looking at giving it a try or any other recommendations.

For non sensored your main options are Max8 Max6... or MM2 if you live in the US.

If Hobbywing... The Max6 will give you a bit more headroom than the Max8.

That's is not what he asked.

From what I have read - the 2200 you asked about can overheat on a monster truck.

It should be fine on a Typhon.

What are your goals for switching to this? If you just want a stock replacement- fine. If wanting to upgrade- I have a better idea, just let me know.

Well I don't own a max 8 combo but as he asked for other reccomendations.. I listed the most popular suitable Esc options... so I kinda did.

Never used the max8 in a buggy but I have used an mm2 in an SCT and an original mamba monster in a buggy. Very powerful.

Mainly as a stock replacement but open to the idea of an upgrade what you got in mind

I run a MMX with the Castle 1515-2200kv motor in my Typhon. Works very well. It was no good in my Kraton as it would thermal constantly.

As mentioned in other posts- I'm waiting on a TP4050 2100kv and a Dynamite Fuze 160A (rebadged Hobbywing Max6) that can run 8.4v BEC

Should be a good reliable upgrade at a reasonable price point.

My redcat be6s/tm bes came with this combo. I ran Way overgeared and did thermal, but it is a much heavier rig than the typhon for sure.

The hw max8 with 4274 2200kv should be fine in the typhon.

I was running this exact combo in a Typhon v3 for around 6 months. I cannot say if it's better, but as the Arrma BLX 2050 motor failed me after 10 batteries (magnet broke inside and got an immediate replacement), I wanted to try something else. Until now no issues at all wit this combo ans I am now running it in a Talion v4. Also no overheating issue.

Max6 tp4050 2100kv .far more superior than max8 combo an less than 50$ more.could run 6s 20/50 gearing in 100 summer heat all day.then setup for 8s speedruns also.

Looks like it's a 4082 size.

Yes 3y 4082.hadit in mojave ran on 8s an no tires could hang. Ran 88mph with setup in notorious the other day
Very impressed with motor.

hottest ive gotten it is 137 on hard 8s rip in 40 degree wheather.max6 in the 120s. Max6 & tp run great together

I was doing some street drifting, playing with new gyro so I added a fan.ran 88 last week in noto

Good to know. Might be worth trying in my outcast on 6S then. Won't fit in my ERBEv2, not enough room for anything over 74mm.

Yeah, I have the max6 in my outcast. Cooked a blx2050kv last year due to the motor fan dying. If the motor gives out again, I may try this TP instead just for kicks if it works so well with the max6.
