Arrma RC's
  1. BigRock 4x4
  2. Granite
  3. Senton 6s
  4. Typhon 3s
Back story; my son got a Senton in the fall (2019) and begged me to get a rc also, i really wanted a monster truck but decided to go with senton to keep things on same field with him (11y/o). Although i have enjoyed the Senton (March '20 purchase) still really wanted a MT. Fast fwd couple weeks to home school seemed like a good time to learn to paint and make conversion for Dad.

Tires- Duratrax 14mm Six Pack
Body- Proline Fusion (metallic blue, gunmetal paint).
T-Bone front bumper
RPM- stock arms front & rear

15T pinion on order but I do have concern about switching back to stock size tires with 15t is there any perfomance i should worry about if i go to a 15t with stock wheels? I ask because we also run street tires in a huge parking lot by us.
Any who here are some pics of project.

15T on the SCT tires will be a little slower than before. You can split the difference and go with an 18T but you’ll need the adjustable motor mount

Is 18t enough to lower temp that people talk about with bigger wheels/ tires?

Motor fan will help big with 18t. I run 18t on my Big Rock 3s and the fan saves me.
You've done a great job with the paint. I love it!
Don't over-think imo and take it as it comes. You're on the right track. I wish I had a young man to share my trucks with but no son and nephew cares about baseball and soccer more than anything.

As said above me, a motor fan will go a long way. Best bet is to give her a rip and watch the temps. An IR temp gun is $10 or less

Been running a 15t pinion over the last couple days on stock tires. Still plenty fast. I thought I’d see a bigger drop in speed. I haven’t even tried it on 3s yet.
Sick set up.
How is that tbone bumper holding up? Does your son have one on his as well?

The T-bone bumper is absolutely awesome it definitely takes the hits. Yes my son also has one, that was the other reason i went senton so anything i did he could do also. I installed mine and he would watch then he would do his.

Also i am curious why you switched your Senton to 15t?

I also switched to 15t cause the 20t seemed to studder at low throttle. The 15t has a little better low end and top speed I'm not worried about. I just got a set of Granite tires/wheels from jennys I'm gonna try on it as soon as my motor bearings come in. Front bearing went all to sheott! Motor temps after about 8-10 mins. were 134f, right before the bearing went south:rolleyes: Oh, and i drilled out one hole on the stock motor mount so i could adjust the gear mesh a little. Just went one size bigger and it was enough to get a little more play on the gear. Love that new body BTW.

Few reasons. I too went with the smaller pinion due to studder or binding at barley any throttle. Could be low power and esc issue which I’ve read the blx 100 suffers from. Seems to be better now though with that and an adjustable motor mount installed.

Also it was running hot and had gone into limp mode a few times. Mostly because my son runs it hard through tall grass or does donuts until the battery drops. I installed a motor fan as well to help combat that to.

Lastly I was wanting to tame it down a notch for a 4 year old. It has more torque now that is noticeable and seemingly close to as quick as it used to be. Eventually I’ll try it on 3s to really see how it performs but for now he has the Senton and I have the K4s.
