I’ve had my typhon 3s 4x4 blx for a month and on only the third time ever to drive it, the motor bearings blew out and lodged themselves into the far, nearly non-accessible end of the motor. Needless to say the motor is shot and needs to be replaced in less than a month. For over $400 that’s just unacceptable.

Arrma (Horizon hobby) is really good to deal with, explain your problem they will send you a new motor just have to have proof of purchase. They did it for my Granite the motor was loose inside and it rocked back and forth. They hooked me up and FAST too

Btw issues with the bearings is known problem but there are a lot of free and cheap fixes https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/typhon-3s-motor-stopped-working.29933/#post-414050
Yes I know it’s a common thing however I had to take it to my local shop and after some struggling the owner was able to remove one bearing but told me the other one wasn’t not coming out and to contact arrma. I know next to nothing about rc’ing. I’ve only been into the hobby for about 6 months so on my own I know pretty much nothing.

Here’s a pic of the problem. I was able to remove the other one but this is what’s left of the second one. It’s only the outer casing of the bearing still left in there. The other half of the bearing came out attached to the spinning shaft. Hammering it from the back with a screwdriver isn’t enough to get it out. If I take the cover on the other side off the motor won’t hold together anymore.

Time to learn, 6 month is a long time in RC ;) , this forum is a great resource. Ask questions or research.
Don't fall into the 'I've never done this' trap, start by making mistakes and learning. Having someone else do it will never get you the experience.

Only way to remove it is with a hammer and appropriate tool, you could heat up the surrounding with a torch. Don't just hammer on one side, do it every 90 degrees and slowly walk it out.

Arrma replaced my motor for a seized bearing that wouldn't come out. But be aware, this is a common problem and can happen again. To prevent it again. I did this:
- Rubber sealed motor bearings
- HPI Gearbox Spacers - Part #101291. Put one shim in the behind the slipper gear so it doesn't rub the power module and create that black dust.
- Sealed up the power module as described here: https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/help-me-upgrade-my-senton-3s-for-sand.20322/post-297587
- Used an o-ring and washer to seal off the motor as described here: https://www.arrmaforum.com/threads/blx-motor.20999/page-2

Just the rubber sealed bearings may be enough, but I did everything. Motors are not cheap. So far, no more seized bearings.

Thanks a lot man. I appreciate the tips. I’ll definitely look in to those things. I don’t want to be buying a motor every two weeks That’s for sure.

I hear you. That’s how I found out the bearings were the issue. I just kept taking parts out one by one until the only thing left to do was open the motor. Now I know I can do it if I have to in the future. Unfortunately I already tried hammering it out and hearing it up. You can’t get a good angle on it to apply force. And it’s only half of the bearing

I had that same thing happen to me, I managed to get a center punch to grab on and was able to tap it out with that.
