What do you guys/gals/whatevers do to make the mulah for your obsession? I am a contractor with my brother we buy old crap houses and flip them into rentals. It's an intresting gig, The house I'm doing now was gutted by a fire and water damaged by being left to rot in the elements. I completely rebuilt the structure and I'm now onto the wiring and plumbing stage, lucky where I live I can do all my own work and just have to get it inspected to pass. No tickets needed as long as it's work done on our own properties. I have made mistakes and learned quite a bit from inspectors but we got all the rules down now. So tell me how do you afford your Armma?

Lots of overtime! 10 hours six days a week. About $90k plus per year ?.

I live a frugal life and usually end up selling stuff I have of value when I no longer use it (guitars, car parts, other RC stuff). Before I got serious into RCs late last year I used to be an Operations Manager for a Microsoft hyperscale cloud data center campus but that ended after a service impacting mistake by a subordinate I managed landed on me (I was told my poor management was to blame) so I was let go. I worked 60+ hours a week most times and always got calls in the middle of the night so after that I realized how out of whack my work/life balance has been for the last 8 years.

Since then I been taking some time off enjoying my hobbies I never had time for while making passive income from various investments I have but I'm working on finding something new career wise hopefully.

oooooooo Microsoft you say eh? Do you know any dirty secrets? Got any spare windows keys lying around? Jk Jk lol That must of been a crazy job. And I know all to well how it feels to be the one to blame for a lackys mistake. Hope you find something new that will give you more time to enjoy things.

I was a highly funtional multi tasker who never said no to more responsibility when asked until I realized too late I had surpassed my limits lol. I do miss getting copies of windows for 25 dollars and full MS office for 65 dollars. I still get the company cell phone discount for some reason though lol

Fishing is my other hobby too. Now Doug Ford(my provinces PM) thinks it's safe for us to go fishing alone in our boots....like it wasn't before lol stupid virus.
I have a tiny logistics company that's responsible for transferring cars between car dealerships all over the UK. We see some very interesting cars everyday and some dirty old sheds as well
I worked in a used car dealership before. Dealt with guys like you as I was inventory and lot manager. Some of the cars I seen... some people are gross lol. Im up in the frozen wasteland of Ontario Canada we only got Fords Dodge Chevy Nissan Mazda Kia and Subarus in the lots I worked in. A few Fiats too. I own one a 500 sport, I'm 6 foot 4 my brother makes fun of me everytime I get out of my "clown car" lmao.

Im in the Netherlands, we had this "intelligent lockdown" you were allowed to do whatever the hell you wanted.. As long as you were doin it by yourself, and kept safe 1.5m distance to other people..
I was allowed to carry out my week job, cause gov. stated construction couldnt be stopped..
Clubs bein closed, my weekend job came to a stop for some time.. But due to some regulations i still got paid for doin no work..
Spend my weekends fishing and RC'in..

we haven't had cases in our city for a while now and our dumb mayor wants to force mandatory masks in all public places. We have to stay 2 meters, no clubs no bars, we are only aloud to dine out outside(as if outside makes a difference), everyone has gone crazy and have started fighting with each other over arrows on the floors in stores, and now we have people killing each other because of the protests. Trudeu has forced gun laws using the emergency act as a cover and he is slowly moving us into a socialist country. Ye canada(and the world) is a little nuts rn.

Outside makes a huge difference with Covid. One, UV light kills the virus almost immediately. Two, there is a lot more air volume outdoors to dissipate anything that does live for a second or two.

As to the OP question, I’m an independent IT contractor. My specialties are SMB support and surveillance systems. I have a few select clients that I serve that keep me busy enough. I generally was working 30-40 hours billed per week pre-Covid. Now that number is way down, but hoping it picks back up soon. Billable hours are what matters in a business like mine. Usually I work many more hours doing other non-billable things, like book work and warranty work. There’s also marketing and proposals for new projects. All in all it was about a 60-80 hour week. But setting my own schedule and working the hours I decide helps make time for a few hobbies.

That's awesome. That's one thing i wish I knew how to do is machine parts, or heck even 3d print parts. My younger brother is a welder and works on heavy equipment making buckets for loaders. He hasn't stopped at all too. Some industries made it through these crazy times. That's good to see.
