a small blob should do the job. Just spin it a few times to work it all the way around.

But, if you like to give them a thick coat on all the teeth individually that's okay too.

Awesome, so basically what i did with the remaining of black TLR hi-pressure grease. Ran a line all around the gear.

Thanks, i should be fine with that and re-lube after a few packs?

Enough to coat is all you realistically need. Most of it gets flung off as soon as you hit the throttle anyway. If you stuff it right full, 100%, you might cause additional drag.

That said, I add much more than a coating. Usually I fill up the little pocket between the pin/pinion, rotate it through a few times, then do it again.

You really only need little, I do like three dabs around the gear and give it a spin to make sure all the teeth got some. Like Chapinb said most gets flung off and then you have a bigger mess when it comes time to service the diff.

I only grease the teeth, I do have a question about your diff tho, what’s the stripe around the housing of shaved metal from?

If you are willing to maintain it regularly and want max performance clean that sticky stuff off there and use a proper speed oil. None of my cars have grease in the bearings or transmissions or difs. The only one I have had an issue with is the Losi Sprint which has a known issue of the screws backing out. Not likely caused by my oil.

I don't mind the regular maintenance at all. What do you suggest for "speed oil" ? Sorry not familiar with that.

Thanks

I used Marvel mystery oil for a long time with no issues. I have since found better but I'll keep that a racing secret. The MMO is great and and is definitely an improvement over grease. It is also a detergent so has benefits in dirty environments. You can also google up a hundred brands of dedicated home brewed speed oils.
