Ok guys, I run two SMC True Spec 3s 6500mah lipos one on each side of my Infraction when doing my speed runs and want to add a 3rd lipo for my #GCRC cooling system.I just picked up the Spektrum 3s 30c 11.1v 1300mah specifically for the cooling system!
Let me know your thoughts and concerns vs running it off one of my SMC True Spec balancing plugs vs adding a 3rd small Spektrum lipo?

I don't........yet. As the demand for power to these hungry esc/motor combos starts to grow though, powering three fans on each of my rigs could be pulling way too much power from where I need it. Just need to figure out where to mount one safely so as not to end up with a battery going up in smoke😯

These little fans probably only pull 1/3 A each at 6-12 V. So maybe 1/2A at 22 V total for 3 fans.

You have to ask if the added weight of a battery is worth the extra 1/2 A for speed runs. More mass to accelerate and slow down...

Edit: just to clarify, i am not hating on accessory batteries... in fact for someone like me who likes to chill and bash i worry that the constant trickle consumption from 2 cells will cause one battery to become un-balanced as i shoot the breeze all day with my buddies, although in practice i have not noticed this happening.

I ran a separate lipo last summer when we had temperatures of 35C and more. It was an ultra light weight 2s 3000mah Gens @ce lipo weighing only 127 gram, which was easy to stack on top of the ‘normal’ lipo.
It ran 4 high rpm 28k fans for about 70minutes before the lipo alarm kicked in that I connected to it.
So 1 or 2 fans don’t use much power. Recently sold the small lipo and just bought a bigger capacity lipo (9500mah). Although the fans no longer get 8.4v they still have enough cooling power for me.

I am starting to use a 1300mah after testing out 2 4028mm 1amp fans on one of my two 3s 9500 cnhl, and the one with the fans connected vas left at 1% the other at 9%. Could connect the fans to both batteries, but the lipo is a nice option.

I was running a small 2S lipo for fans, but then changed to use a balance plug instead. Realized that unbalanced my packs badly and decided to run a buck instead. I now run my buck off the full 33.6V (8S) and step it down to 12V. This way I don't need an additional lipo and I don't unbalance my main packs. I can run up to 6A at 12V (75W).

Once it gets hot here and we need fans for our Kraton, thats what Ill be doing.

Picked up a bunch of the 40mm Delta screamer fans, will buck down to 12V and connect to main pack.

Just have to figure out mounting them to the motor (smooth case Leopard)

I have the GC 3x V2 fans on my Infraction and I use the 3S 1300mah battery I got from GC sits on top of one of my hardpacks. I do not do speed runs just bash and drift so weight is not a concern.

Here in the south and it is getting hotter 80F the other day....will get hotter....asphalt was only 95F. GC fans kept the ESC on the first battery pack run right at or lower 100F. On the second run seeing 109-112F with the heat gun....the DXC5 showed 114F.

What is the 150A Frima thermal cut-off anyway?
