I’m getting too much bounce after the truck lands. I can land on all four wheels and then the truck bounces and cartwheels. The suspension is all stock right now.

How have you guys addressed this problem? Thicker shock oil? How thick? Any other ideas?

I don’t feel like uploading a video to YouTube, so here are some screenshots. Perfect landing, then jumps a foot in the air and tumbles.

Generally i have problems with bounce due to either 1) too high of shock oil, or 2) excess pack because the shock pistons holes are too small (oil can't get through fast enough). Have the same issue on the kaiju.

I'm sure there's more detailed things you could tune, like shock rebound, or something else. Maybe someone could chime in with those.

Do your truck return to a decent height when you push it down and compress the shocks?

I had same problem with my Kraton. I kept 60wt oil but changed the oil out (they were all a little low) and then adjusted my droop and now I don't have the problem. Not sure if the droop adjustment did much but I think it did as I had my droop set too high imo. I could certainly be wrong though on that.

I switched over to the M2C emulsion shock caps. Those helped quite a bit, did not eliminate, but was a noticeable difference.

I have noticed that the way I jump the rear end always pops up. If I match my acceleration on the throttle as I hit the ground and then tap it once landed, it’ll roll through the rebound. When I forget to do this, which is often, it almost always bounces up and over. I know it’s contrary to the normal advice of staying off the throttle when landing, but it works for me and I haven’t destroyed any diffs from it yet. Took a lot of practice though to get it right and if I don’t jump for a while, I have to quickly relearn.

I've heard that with the 8s rigs, many have way better luck with thinner shock oil. It spares the shock shafts, ends and reduces bouncing. Mostly at the rear shocks.
It's most likely the Tires rubber "rebounding" bounce causing this. A thinner shock oil will compress/rebound better. More quickly. Absorbing some of the Wheel bounce. Something to try out for sure. What I would do. Stock oil provides too much "Shock Pack".

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Have some good ideas to try.

P.S. Does anyone know the shock oil weight that comes in a 1/5 Outcast EXB? I can’t find it listed online or in the manual.

Sorry for my nooby question but why do you recommend putting longer screws in there? I like the idea of the teflon tape for the pillow balls.
Longer screws will give you a stronger connection between bulkhead and chassis.
