I have a set of Kraton EXB V2 shock towers I would like to remove the anodizing from. Is there a way of doing this that retains reasonable surface quality?
I'll add: the oven cleaner spray works great on the red anodized parts. Not too good on black. I had to use Lye crystals for them. Try the oven cleaner spray, the lye crystals are really a caustic soda & will burn your fingers.

I did it will mr muscle crystals years ago I put a bit of warm water on also. It nearly burnt my shepherds pies out had to wear a mask and googles and gloves you can't get that stuff here anymore I'm not surprised either. its a gel now but takes ages to Deionise

I did an entire V5 Kraton chassis back couple months ago & burned my knuckle mixing up the lye crystals & warm water. It stripped the anodized off quick & the skin off my knuckle too. Set it all in a throw away aluminum roasting pan & dipped it w long tongs. Only took maybe a minute or two.
For the red EXB towers, just get a Pyrex dish & spray them heavy & wait 15m. Wipe w/ paper towels & rinse. Return to dish & the leftover spray, & spray again. Repeat till gone. If the 'spray' in the dish gets really red, drain & repeat again. Then polish if desired.
