Hello - after installing a brand new KW Max6 1650kv combo in my Kraton the car seems to dragbrake a little bit everytime I let go of the throttle. I have the programming card and the drag brake is set to 0%. The car rolls like a dream without the motor installed, and the mesh is perfect. Have anyone had the same issue? Its like Im not able to turn it off… whats wrong?

I remember once with a Max 6 that the HW programming card had the options listed differently than the ESC. For example (making this up, don’t remember exactly) if it said “option 5” was drag brake, it was really option 4. I was driving myself nuts and getting really discouraged before I saw a YT vid with someone who had the same issue. Go by the option numbers listed in the Max 6 manual, not as displayed on the program card. Maybe this is the issue?

It may just be the strength of the magnets in the motor.. I have a Rocket 4092 that feels like the brakes are on every time I coast with it. It's been in multiple vehicles, different esc's, new bearings..just they way it is. I've learned to live/drive with it.

Possible.. I never tried actually using the drag brake. I wonder, if you set the esc to use the drag brake, would it be audible like the brake is when used normally?

It depends on what percentage you choose, but yes it’s the same as you manually applying the brakes.

Is your gear mesh too tight? Have you checked all your bearings?
Yup. Everything rolls just fine. Mesh set up perfect. Maybe it has something to do with the combination of a low gearing (pinion 14t) and a low kv? Larger magnets might make “resistance”?

I will try that. Thanks:)
Which leads me to believe if the drag brake was on, should be audible?
I tried to adjust the setting pr card to 5 (16%) drag and it was very clear that this is the actual drag setting/value

I tried that - set it to max(16%) - and it did brake but not audible. More like a kind of even more resistance

That Drag brake frequencey sound is hard to discern if it is ever so slight, yet there.
I think most motors yield some degree of Drag until they stop motion. But should not be so dramatic/strong.
Definitley rule out the Drag brake setting first. Exactly like @Dan B. stated above.
Also could be your Radio's Brake setting perhaps?
Maybe do an ESC reset. Reset all ESC Parameters again with the known correct value line items defined.
Then a fresh Radio calibration. Worth a try at some point. Sometimes the ESC 's F/W values can drift. Needing a reset.
Good luck.

Thanks - I have tried every single thing you mention:( Its not that the car doesn't drive like a charm (apart from the braking). Its more because I am concerned that the drag consumes an exessive amount of power. My brakesetting is set to 65% on the dx5.
