why does the new Losi Lasernut U4 say it needs a HARDCASE lipo? is there a reason a soft case will not work? also the battery suggested (spectrum smart) on horizon hobby web site not fit the max battery dimensions on the lasernut u4 specs.

max battery dimensions: 5.45 x 1.83 x 1.38" (138.5 x 46.5 x 35mm)
Horizon hobby suggested battery dimensions:

Product Height1.4" (38mm)
Product Length5.4" (138mm)
Product Weight17.1oz (485g)
Product Width1.8" (47mm)

does the car have a shell built in for lipo? Even if it does they may have found soft packs took too much damage during repeated use so are telling people not to use soft packs to avoid liability should you explode your car?

3 velcro straps hold it in, i can see where it may hit the chasis in length but other than that i don't know. maybe some more experienced rc guys can explain

I run both in all my RC's , never had a problem,...... except when I sent my Talion way up and landed broke the rear chassis brace / bent the chassis / and slightly bent the bottom 3s soft pack !!!! That bent battery still works as should today .

If it doesn't have a shell built in it means you are risking debris damaging your battery...low risk of it but it is there hence them saying something about it, likely for liability reason do they can't be sued ;)

Kevin talbot has a good fix for bent soft packs?? I’ve used it myself and I don’t recommend it at all but the batteries still work.
