When I was a teenager... I was a deranged, savage, lunatic and a general menace to the world. When I was 19 I got my driver's license revoked for 5 years for "habitual traffic offender". I got 19 moving violations, 14 of which were speeding tickets, in a year. I wanted to get my Class A when I was in my 20's but it would have been useless, even if I could, because of my record.
Today, 24 years later, I got my CDL Class A truck drivers license! I haven't had a single driving infraction in over 10 years. Life's good!

Someone was looking out for you!
Whoever it was that took your license away from you for that Long of a time ,Saved your Life!!

A funny thing happens when you are lucky enough to reach your Older self... You're more focused and clear minded.

Congratulations ,on achieving your goal.
24 years.. Just in time. To be at the start of the new State Side supply chain Boom!
AND to get aboard on potentially newer and better semi trucks >>> Tesla Semi
(Elon hurry your azz up and get your production problems under control!!)

The electric trucks are not gonna be a good thing. They take too long to charge. I've been driving commercial trucks for 24 years and it's all about time. You get about 400 miles average on a full tank of fuel and you will get about the same 400, maybe even 500 miles range on full batteries in the new electric trucks, but it only takes about 5-10 minutes to re-fuel 2 tanks of diesel fuel and takes a few hours to fully recharge the batteries in these electric trucks. That's a lot of down time in which the driver will not get paid for.

The Tesla trucks will work ok for short run regional work but will not work out for long haul runs where time is money.

...And this is just the beginning. If you haven't noticed, technology advances are happening faster and faster... Before long it will be comparable to the time it takes to fuel up. Also, eventually you will be able to charge at the point of stopping over night. And if it's fully charged when you leave they can go about 500 miles so you shouldn't need to fully charge in one day anyways.

That WAS one of the major concerns..

However because Tesla actually formulates & produces their own batteries and they are Constantly improving their lipo pack's charge capacity AND building out even more extreme charging stations..
MegaChargers that can get your Tesla Semi charged to 75-80% in ~30minutes (which is just the right amount of time for a required restroom break,on long hauls..)

I'm not a Elon or Tesla fanboy, but I certainly do respect what that guy is trying to do and have definitely Pushing the technology Forward into the Real world.
Verses the established industries that's satisfied to keep selling us the Old tech from 6-7 Decades ago (with only minor gizmo improvements here and there.)

Happily keeping truly Advanced technologies in Laboratories and teasing/giving us the false promises of "it'll be released some time in the Near future.." speech...
All the while Knowing they're NOT going to give us any of it ,til they have milk every penny out of us.

Just look at this fact > Tesla basically started with their release of the
Model S in 2012!

And in just ten short years they are producing Semi Trucks using the same Extreme motors from their model S Plaid (there's going FOUR of those motors in a Tesla Semi's.)
If that's not impressive from a little startup car company ,I don't know what is!

I agree. I think Elon is a complete eccentric, ego mainaic but he has done a lot to advance technology. 10 years ago when the Model S came out NO car companies were even really talking about electrics except for Chevy. Now all of them are trying to catch up and can't keep up with demand. I had a 17 F250 Diesel crew long bed with a 6" BDS lift on 38's. I bought a cheap EV (Chevy Spark EV only sold in 2 states as a "compliance vehicle") to save money in fuel. I barely ever drove my truck again after that and ended up selling it. I went from spending $500 a month (when diesel was "cheap") to spending $100-$130 ish on electricity and charging. I love ICE engines but the are just old tech and no longer efficient. They still have their uses but someday they will be for nostalgia only. 🤷‍♂️

Didn’t say Tesla's technology wasn't impressive. Some people will be happy with an electric Semi truck, but not me. I'll stick to my "old tech" 600hp/18 speed diesel rig. If you've never driven one, you really don't have anything to argue about. I love my truck and wouldn't change it.

I love them to. I'd prefer it but I'll drive whatever they give me wherever I end up working. If I was to be an owner operator someday it seems Teslas or hopefully some other competitor will be cheaper in the long run. Money's money!

Good luck on your journey, bud. It takes a certain type of person to be a truck driver. Some people have it, some people don't. I got my Class A CDL 24 years ago in 1998. Took a while to get used to driving every day. But now it's hard not to.

To be honest I am a futures market and stock options day trader. I have been doing it for 3 years. I am getting good at it but I am not ready to support us on it alone yet. I want to have steady work to pay the bills and use trading to get rich. Not 100% sure what path I will take with trucking yet but it should more then pay the bills until I am sustainable trading...
Who knows, maybe the trading will fund my first truck. 🤷‍♂️

Truck driving can be very rewarding if you get in with the right company. Right now I drive truck and operate heavy equipment for a construction company and live pretty darn comfortable making over 100k per year. Add my wife’s income and together we do pretty well.
