Arrma RC's
  1. Typhon Grom
I own a typhon grom blx, my second car, and I run it on 3s only. But now I'm looking to get something larger and for my budget and I found the Mojave 4s/typhon 6s.
I only bashed with my RCs. I typically run on the street and in my front/back yard, along with some occasional trail use. I rarely do jumps, and if I do, they're mostly small jumps. I like having a metal chassis but I've heard of people bending it and the only issue I've heard on the Mojave 4s is the body being a little fragile which is fine. I enjoy the agility of the Typhon 6s but the 4s Mojave seems to glide over anything it goes through.

I have a fully build 4s mojave, and just acquired a 6s typhon. The 6s line is a significant step up in quality and durability.

The 4s mojave is bigger - longer and wider, so yes it does handle rough stuff a bit better. But is pretty easy to make the typhon just as wide, or wider than a stock mojave. Making it as long as the mojave isnt difficult or expensive either.

The typhon is lighter, even accounting for the size different and tires. The mojave body is hefty, but beautiful.

If you like the typhon grom, you’ll love the 6S!

4S Mojave isn’t bad, just not a true race platform. Rear center diff was an afterthought on the 3S toy grade-plastic chassis bashers.

Have you had any issues with motor temps or tires shredding on 6s? What lipos do you use and how is the ground clearance compared to the Mojave 4s?

The 3s and 4s line aren't "toy grade" rc's.....

Having said that....

I myself wouldn't pay what they are asking for the 4s line being what they are. I don't think the price reflects what your getting.. Just my opinion. I think if your already going in that deep I'd jump to any of the 6s line first..

Have you seen truggified typhons? You can build an endless amount of combinations with the Typhon.

I use 6s mojave tires on both rigs, so cant say for stockers. The 6s mojave tires are pretty good however.

I have had temp issues with a stock-like motor on the 4s, with 4s but I think its more how I run, others haven't had the same temp issues.

Mojave 4s has more ground clearance than a stock typhon. The typhon is about the bare minimum for offroad bashing and kind of requires a flat surface. Easy fix with taller tires to gain the clearance back.

What it basically come down to is what you intend to do with it. The 4s mojave is a great rig, but theres very little headroom to increase durability or power. It will handle anything short of huge air as far as durability goes. The mojave does jump better than the typhon for smaller jumps, but thats as much a function of wheel size as anything.
The 6s give more headroom to upgrade durability and power. Its not needed, but the option is there.
Both platforms can be changed into others. 4s can be changed to any of the 3s or 4s rigs. 6s can be changed into any of the 6s rigs. So if you don't like what you bought, can cane change the size, wheels, ect to your liking.
Theres a good amount of dislike for the 4s rigs from 6s peeps, but the 4s rigs are decent. But for the cost of a few 4s upgrades, you can have a 6s rig thats great.

Get the 6s if you can afford it.

Looks like a 6s typhon is for me after all. I'll be getting one in February due to constraints but ill also get a heatsink for it.
4S should be fine for it right?

Theres not many threads comparing the 4s mojave to 6s typhon here, but theres many, many comparing the 4s kraton/outcast to the 6s kraton/notorious that would be worth reading.

The Mojave 4s actually is pretty durable, even when jumping it, apart from the body. Both cars can go offroad, although the Mojave looks way better offroad. The Typhon is better on road and is more agile.
In case you’re not sold on Arrma, also have a look at the Team Corally Spark and Asuga (quite a lot bigger than the Spark).

Been to a race track lately? The only newbs there running a plastic tub chassis are children and Trashass owners. 😂

Again, don’t skew my words. If you think the injection molded chassis has good center of gravity/handling and balance with composite shocks that just have more plastic spacers for preloading springs, awesome and enjoy your monkey metal diffs. 😊 Bash on button mashers!

And yes, get the TLR instead of the v5 BLX. I’d rather have 7075 alloy where pills break instead of composite hinge pin retainers.

No rig mentioned is a track rig, nor was any mention of taking it to a track. 6s platform is based on the layout of a 4s 1/8 buggy, yes, great.
Plastic doesn't mean its poo, I like the 3s/4s chassis. The problem isnt the plastic, its that the 4s price is so close to the 6s, its hard to recommend the 4s in most cases.

Of those, def go with the 6S. Is there a reason you don't have the Mojave 6S in the decision? Just out of curiosity. The 6S Arrma are way beefier than their 4S.

Track??
Who said anything about looking for a race rig? He's looking for a basher.

I wouldn't run any Arrma at the track.
There are so much better race platforms out of the box then an arrma.... hard fact.

"Skew your words"? It was a direct quote and a direct response to your statement. There wasn't any "skew" happening there my friend.

Plastic is for kids?
Explain to me some of the most notorious bashers are all plastic?
X-maxx? Maxx?

I can 100% tell you as a fact that between my Notorious and stock Maxx the maxx will win in durability.. I pretty easily bent the notorious on the same jumps the maxx wheels away from.
I also paid how much for the Notorious?

I'd still take the Notorious over the maxx..... but my point is comparing "toy" and a proper "adult" rc basher with you.

Your statement is ignorant.

Can always make it longer in the future if thats your dream!
Chassis are cheap, otherwise just need a new center dog bone and maybe a chassis brace depending on how long you go.
That's another point for 6s. If you go 4s Mojave, you can't go bigger. Wider, yes, but not longer. 6s typhon, you can go much wider and much longer.

I'll definitely plan for upgrades in the future in case I feel like it.

If you are concerned about cost, the Typhon 223S is a better overall value as a 1/8 basher IMO. Once you go 6S you’ll be glad, however.

One of the most durable configurations.
