Is this pinion gear even safe? Will it fall off?

I'm building another Limitless and for some reason, the second TP 4070 motor I got has a slightly shorter motor shaft. So, now it is sitting right at the edge, as shown below.

Will it fall off? I'm using blue threadlocker now.

umh...
that Doesn't give me full confidence..

Not saying that it'll fall off ,but it might..

Shouldn't the pinion be on the other way around? Would allow to go in deeper.

But, Will it still line up with the center spool/diff?

Right. I remember now. It will not align cos I tried before. Now I'm back to square one.
Aftermarket spools allow you to place the spur gear wherever so this type of thing becomes a non-issue. Something to consider. I use RamJam.

You could shim the rotor out the front some more. Easily gain 2 or 3 mm

No big deal if the rear shaft is slightly inside the rear bearing.
I’ve read that shimming the rotor can slightly alter the motor’s effective kv rating. Is that true?

I totally agree with @dure16 , just bite the bullet and get an aftermarket spool. I also use the RamJam ones. You can still keep your 32 tooth pinion (just flip it) and set up the spur spacing on the spool to properly align with it. You can still keep the same gearing as your other rig, just get the same tooth spur. The spools take standard 8mm gears. I also agree with the recommendation for Saga gears. They just don’t get any better.

I never thought of that. I have one application that I will definitely try out that way, thank you!

Dang, wait a minute… That might mess up the Hall sensor alignment on a sensored motor. Seems like it would?

Yeah. If it's say about a 2000kv motor, you might be able to shim it and get 30-50 kv max. You will lose some torque however. A high kv motor, you can gain a few hundred.
That's on an analyzer however and once loaded ad in a speedrun application, you will just get what you get. I've used this to gain mph on low cell speedruns. Shim and leave the gearing alone to see what you pick up.

I've shimmed sensored motors also. Just not as aggressively. Didn't seem to hurt the motors ability for low rpm operation.

I’m gonna try it. Max 10 sensored G2 on a 1:10 TC. HW really needs to put a slightly longer shaft on that thing.

Do you mean disassembling the motor and adding shim inside?
Just take a shim from the front and add it to the back. Yeah, you have to take the motor apart, but there really isn't anything complex about it. Just don't lose or drop the shims. I've spent hours on the floor with a flashlights just trying to find them lol 😆 got smart and ordered extras

Alright, I will consider this if the gear begins to fall off. I'm trying to KISS it. And I will hold on to the shims with my dear life lol!
