Looking for a 4092 1400-1800KV, would consider a HobbyStar 4585 and I would be very interested in a Hobbywing 4985. I run a Max6 ESC in my K6S. 8S rated motors are a plus but not a must-have. I don't have any 4S or 8S packs (yet) anyway. Cash in hand, hit me up with a fair offer.

Also:
Has anyone used the 4585 1589KV Hobbystar/Rocket motor? How does it compare to the 1630/1650KV 4092s? Or the 1650kv 4985 Hobbywing motor? All on 6S, of course. Like I said, I don't have proper packs for running 8S ATM. Thanks, guys!

I own and run the 4585 rocket and the 4985 Hobbywing with the max6 dirt bashing only. Both are good with the hobbywing running cooler and perhaps a little more torque. Either one you will need some extra tires....

I have several sets of tires, so no worries there. If the HW 4985 is a 10 out of 10 for torque, what would you say the 4585 is in comparison?

It’s kind of a hard comparison, maybe 8 or 9 out of 10. You almost need to have two identical cars and run them back to back. I had the 4585 in the Kraton and it ran a little too warm when I geared up. The hobbywing runs cooler so I stick with that and run the 4585 in the lighter weight talion. The 4585 is great for the price at around 75$.

I know, I have strongly considered buying the 4585 over a 4985, but there are options in the 4092 size class that are also very attractive. Namely the Rocket/HobbyStar 4092 1730/1480KV, can be had shipped from China for around $65. This is a common upgrade for guys running a Max6 in their K6S. I'd love to have a TP 4070 1500KV but a new one is out of my budget range and not available on Ebay currently anyway. The Leopard 4092 is another option, coming in around 90 bucks before tax shipped from inside the US. It is at the same exact price as the Hobbystar motor when shipped from within the US. There is also the SSS 4092 1650KV for around 85-90 bucks shipped from China. The ratings vs. The price maje me a bit dubious of the claimed capabilities of this motor, coupled with it being marketed as a boat motor. However it is available with sealed end caps and with them should be just as good for on-land use as any other "car" motor.

I bought a rocket 4092 1650kv off ebay. I was hoping someone had an extra they could sell me but I found the Rocket inside the US for 65 bucks free shipping. The pics were or the one with the finned can and 6.5 bullets, hopefully it doesn't turn out to be one of those boat motors, although I don't think those have a 1650kv version.
