Felony Issue with differential gearing in the Arrma Felony

Good afternoon everyone,

To all Felony owners, have you seen this video?

I never looked into the actual gearing ratios for the Felony up until yesterday. I assumed the gears were chosen appropriately to account for the different diameters of the front and rear tires.

After watching this YouTube video and doing some math, it appears that the front tires slightly overdriven compared to the rear tires, which seems like it can cause extraneous tire wear and maybe even wear out the center differential over time.

According to the video, a solution to this is to switch from a GP5 main input gear to a GP6 on the front differential, the same pinion gear that’s already drives the rear differential. This brings the rotation speed of the wheels to be roughly the same, but I’m left wondering why Arrma made the choose to have the front wheels rotate faster than the rear tires in stock form.

Has anyone done this modification? If so, any advice on what differential shims I would to need to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The stock front tires are smaller diameter.
If you go gp5 front and back, get all the same size tires.
