Jims Bearings Waterproof Grease for Spiral/Spur Gears?

Anybody using this grease for your diff external gears? I was attracted to the fact that it contains lithium and molybdenum. And supposedly “protects after the grease is gone”.

Thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah anything with a Moly is long wearing.
I find that most any Automotive Grease has the correct lube properties for these diff main gears. I choose Synthetics. Mobil 1 Red, Superlube, and Lucus Marine grease (high lithium based and water proof). More than adequate.
RC boutique lubes are just repackaged Commercial greases.
You get more quantity with automotive grease for the $$ spent.

Agree with the above, get a can of Mobil 1 for 10 bucks, it'll last forever.

Any grease will work, doesn't need to be fancy or waterproof. You have to do maintenance before grease is an issue or even close to being a problem.
Doesn't have to be waterproof either, if you drive in water you do more maintenance anyway.
Yes, it will work just fine, pot o'grease from dollar store will do exactly the same for your RC.

Hmmm usually lithium is a no-no on plastics.

I use Superlube Synthetic or Superlube Silicone grease for the diff gears. Perhaps on the 6S line it doesn't matter as much? I am not sure what the plastics are made of (diff cup and housing).

You can search the forum on what lithium grease did to several members here on the forum on their 3S rigs. It softens the plastic over time...

Silicone grease is not as durable for the 6s Main/Input metal gears. It will thin out easily. It isn't Tenacious enough on the gear's teeth.
Yeah Lithium is better for metals, not plastic. Pure white Lithium grease in general I don't find lasts long. It cakes/chunks up. So more wear would result IMHO.
Any Automotive grease you would use in Auto wheel bearings or Ball joints is way more than adequate protection between rebuilds.
And I would use a Non-Moly synthetic grease for plastic diff gears. I feel Moly is best for Metal on Metal gears and can wear out Plastic gears faster.
Molybdenum is actually a super fine metal. Reacts and benefits with metal better, not with plastic because it is slightly porus. (composite plastic gears)

The grease in the diff housing will get contaminated with dust fairly fast anyways so don’t bother with boutique grease. Get a $14 tube of superlube and a $12 small grease gun. Clean and re-lube monthly because it’ll probably need it.

Exactly the same pump I use. Off AMZ.
Pumping this way keeps the lube cleanly dispensed. And there is less waste. Easy to fill my BB's too. Great lube for BB's. A high temp grease.
I buy that same SuperLube, just in a Tub can from HD. I use a spoon or knife to fill the pump. I refill the pump like maybe once a year. This SL is great stuff. Around water also. Stays put when wet.

Glad you caught this. Double checked and website says synthetic with Moly additives. So no lithium.

All metal geared 6s rigs.
FWIW, I once tried a Ceramic Lithium based Bendix Brake grease on my metal diff gears. It caked up after little use. NG. I like to experiment.

Yeah R & T is not a fav personally. I have it here also. Not for RC. I tried it. Many like though.
I use it on other things around the house and my SUV.

Thanks for the links! I added them to my Hobby Wish List. Dang, I hate Amazon Prime, I could have this stuff tomorrow! Nah, I’m gonna use up the boutique stuff first…. With Arrma recommending diff service every 10 packs on the newer 29mm LSD diffs, that won’t be too long! Thanks again!

The only info I can find about any substance damaging plastic is if it contains some form of petroleum. Couldn’t find anything about R&T saying it contained petroleum.
