First impressions. Mega 550, brushed motor (after changing to the 23T).

I miss the acceleration, it is still fast off the line, but not as much fun factor,
It now takes a bit of distance to hit top speed, unlike the 14 tooth, which quickly found 20 MPH.

Does anyone know how many MPH I may have gained on top end?
I have no clue, but I need a long strip of asphalt and a GPS to find out.

14 tooth was about perfect for the Mega's intended use (Bashing),
Racing and chasing it was faster with the 14 tooth.

Cannot imagine putting a 27T.
Figured the 23T would be a good compromise and easier on the ESP, Motor and Battery (2S 5000 50C LIPO)

Have not tried this off road yet, but sure it will not perform as well.

What has been your experience and what pinion gear would you suggest?

Have you checked your motor and esc temperatures? If stock is 14T, I imagine you are going to overheat something by driving off-road with a 23T.

Changed back to 14.
Faster acceleration is worth more to me than long straightway top speed.
By the time the 23T hits 31 MPH, the 14T will be three turns ahead.

Honestly, it was still fast off the line with the 23T, but the thrilling acceleration was just not there.
14T is easier all around.

Very tempted to order a Typhon 3S BLX and upgrading to belted tires.
Would you upgrade/change the Granite Mega 550 (Brushed Motor) connectors (and the matching 2S battery) to IC5?
That is, If you also own the Typhon (Brushless)?
When I order the Typhon, will be running both the 2S and the 3S in it.

Want to experience the 50MPH dashes and still have the acceleration that only comes with 3S.

Thank you to everyone who has and/or will respond.

BTW, I feel it ran closer to 25MPH with the 23t.

We went down the rabbit hole of upgrading a mega and we're in brand new felony with charger and batteries territory.

Of course we're talking about 4 months of bashing fun and now it beats the pants off my stock typhon 3S hands down in every category; durability, speed, stability, handling, aesthetics.
