BUILD UPDATE: P3 COMPLETE!!

Key updates include:
_alu bulkheads
_alu bell crank
_alu hubs
_alu diff cases & rebuild
_revised cooling system
_overall refresh of plastic bits (including cosmetic)

Significant weight reduction measures were taken to balance addition of alu parts, successfully (and surprisingly) reducing full weight from P1 build of 15.4lbs to current P3 build of 15.2lbs.

Looking forward to 'pressure testing' this build after the threadlocker cures tomorrow 😏 will update after shakedown with GPS speed on new backflip LP / 22t pinon setup.

What are you powering your fans off of?
12v BEC soldered to ESC leads. Runs to a y-splitter (one to motor fans and one to ESC fan).

Build update: Added Qs8 connectors and re-wired my cooling in hopes of resolving hot battery issue. Not sure why else my battery would be getting so hot when my motor / esc are ending full-out :30 run ~130’s in 100deg ambient. Even had a relatively new gensacearespammers puff up on me so hoping this resolves it. Also replaced a couple blown hub bearings. Cannot believe how quick they went out but perhaps due to how dry and dusty it is. Expect to be able to rehab some of them, but at least 2 of 8 are gonners. Trying fast eddy ceramic rubber sealed this time.

Not sure which one to drool 🤤 about, the Kraton or how organized your tools are 😍.

Thank you.. workshop was my pet project during early days of covid so doubt I’ll get to ‘gold plate’ anything as much until retirement. The crown jewel of that exercise was def my go-tool kit tho; it’s all I used/needed on P1 of this build:

Car’s been a riot to drive and has been running great, but I know it has more to give with avg motor temp ~135deg at lvc. Rather than gear up (currently 22/50) I decided to test it on 8s..

A bit of soldering to go to build a series harness and replace the CNHLs’ EC5s, as well as replace a bent rear drive shaft, and double check bearings and I should be ready to rock (and very likely roll  )

Will lower punch setting for this experiment, but any other tuning tips for running a 15lb 1/8 scale on 8s would be greatly appreciated!

Note: Not a long term change, just curious.

So apparently the the “aluminum” front center brace mount I got from eBay is actually made from a high tech lead alloy, including the screws! This little screw breaking resulted in ~2h of work to get the truck back to where I started, and the new mount in the trash.

8s update: it was awesome zero regrets. Didn’t even get close to full throttle the entire time and I’m more than ok with that. Perf backflips going ??mph (fast) just by blipping the throttle. The speed where 6s begins to drop hard acceleration felt like 8s was just getting going. Terrifying on greasy copperheads, will throw on a new set backflips and take it out to the dirt for a real pressure test this weekend.

& those bricks didn't get jostled around in there too badly? Looks like you could use another battery strap?😬

Lol so far so good after a few rolls but didn’t come close to sending it so only time will tell. Also worth noting I removed the closed cell bumper pad I normally keep under my batteries so they sat ~1cm lower than in orig pic, above. Def in the market for some better, grippier, straps if you know anyone who makes them.

Saga rc makes them w/ kevlar although they were too wide for me to get thru the slots in the stocker battery tray

Looks great! I love those CRCU center braces so much but I haven’t talked myself into dropping that kind of coin yet.
