Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton 4s
Guys,

decided to post some pics and details about some upgrades to my K4S. Since You all give so much info it was my time to share.

mods performed:
- gpm shock tower braces (GPM MAG028-BK front and GPM MAG030-BK rear)
- rpm arms (RPM80822 front and RPM80742 rear)
- x-rings in standard arrma 4s shocks (they leaked) + 800cst oil
- Jim’s bearing kit (not installed yet)
- gpm traxxas MAXX shocks (6mm shafts, not installed yet) (GPM TXMS125F/R/L)
- Traxxas MAXX roof skid (Traxxas TRX8917)
- proline thumbwasher body screws (Proline PL6070-02)
- proline badlands 3.8” fronts. (Backs are on backorder...) (Proline PL1178-11 front and rear)
- Spektrum 5000mah 4S 100c smart battery

Except for the shocks all bolted just on (with minor mods). The front shocks are just too long (have to shorten the shock body and shaft 20mm) and springs are way to stiff. Have to figure that out first.

Anyway all good. An absolute blast to drive and super stable on all surfaces!! And on 4s a real speed deamon. Have a Spektrum 3s Battery on backorder ?. D/R for throttle is set to 27%.... ?

Kind regards and be safe.

On the rears a pair of Copperhead 2 from the 6S are mounted. Works and I like the rake of the car this way. It does mean the back has more traction. More difficult for slipper and diff?
Badlands 3.8 its going to be too big i think
The badlands 3.8” are actually almost identical to the standard Mino or Backflip LP.

Oh nvm i though i saw badlands mx38 lol

i have the copperhead 2 on my 4sish outcast. mx38 tires are bigger... 0.3" i think, and around 100 grams heavier...could be rough....

The copperhead 2 are true 3.8” size. The badlands 3.8” (PL1178-11) are in between 2.8” and 3.8”.

My mistake....saw badlands 3.8 and my brain read mx38. Those 3.8 tires I have as backups for my outcast...good tire. Weight will not be an issue unless too light for your taste. Mx38 would likely have been too much tire.

I kinda made a mistake on the GPM traxxas MAXX shocks. I just figured I would easily get them to work but I needs more overthinking to get them working properly. I already found out the springs for the Yeti XL have the same ID (23mm) and are available in similar spring rate as the original shocks. Now it’s just a matter of shortening the front bodies and shaft. Otherwise there is no travel left fitted....

should have bought the 6s typhon shocks.. if I could have found them for a reasonable price ?

ah well. Always like a good engineering challenge

I ended up udon kraton shock and left the 6s springs on them. Don't remember how that rate compared, and they are a touch longer than stock.... but they have been fantastic..
Will the typhoon shafts fit in the gpm bodies?

no, the GPM body is for 6,0mm shafts. I believe the 6s arrma shafts are 4,0mm. I thought the GPM could be bomb proof when working with correct spring and oil. I might be right just more work than hoped for

I figure I will have to let an acquaintance machine new 6mm shafts for me. Ah well. Or maybe cut my loss and buy the typhon ones. Not decided yet.
