Arrma RC's
  1. Kraton EXB
  2. Talion
So, it’s a Kraton 6S EXB which my 7 year old son has christened “Big Daddy”.
  • HobbyWing Max6/1650 combo
  • Eclipse Customs fan kit for the ESC which includes a custom 3D printed shroud for the ESC
  • Eclipse Customs motor fan kit
  • Eclipse Customs ESC switch holder
  • M2C shock tower brace kit
  • M2C shock stand offs
  • CRCU front and rear braces
  • RPM wing mount which I need to fit - have a 3D printed TPM one but I’m not happy with it - too bendy and now the arse end is strengthened, the ROM should be fine
  • dboots backflips all round
  • DS3225 servo
  • RadicalRC bash bar
  • Hot Racing servo arm and horn - although I am going to swap the horn out for a 25T Arrma version
  • We run Turnigy Heavy Duty 3S 5000 mah batteries x 2
There are a couple of other bits and bobs I would like to do to it, but overall it is a great rig and it makes me chuckle.

90 mph? On what pinion? Still 6S? Maybe buying that that extra Firma stuff for my MEXB was a mistake... Might have to get what I can for my Spektrum stuff and switch over all my rigs.

Beautiful rig, looks like a beast. What temps you getting with the big boi backflips?

I thought the same but it’s KPH

Nice....what are Eclipse Customs fan kits?
He’s a chap who does 3D printed mounts for the ESC and motor with all of the hardware and fans. More information at https://www.facebook.com/EclipseCustomsUK/

Negative ghostrider - I would have lost control 😜 89kph is about 52mph. It probably has more in it but I need somewhere bigger to test it.

Thanks!

I haven’t measured accurately but with the fans on after a hard outing, you can put your finger on the motor and hold it there without any pain at all.

Tonight, I have swapped out the brass bushings in the steering rack for proper bearings which I think will be better and they weren’t expensive. What a f*** on that is; you have to basically dismantle most of the front end - hey hum.

I have had loads of back luck with servo horns on the Kraton.

When I bought the EXB, it came with one of those poopy 23T Arrma ones and I put a Hot Racing horn and arm in. Which was a mistake. The horizontal screws that clamp the horn onto the servo constantly come undone (despite being threadlocked) and it is not a great piece of kit.

So, I have fitted an Arrma 25T horn and the original arm and it seems to be good - we shall see how it gets on.

I would swap out the max 6 for castle mmx8s now that it supports d wind and high Kv motors if possible. Also the RPM wing mount is flimsy and not an upgrade from stock imho. I use the hot racing aluminum mount and it’s sturdy AF and has never broken. It also works better with after market towers which you already have. All just my opinion and personal experiences though. Your build is solid

I am pretty happy with the Max6 for now and for the level of use I put it through, it’s great.

Agree - and they don’t fit well with the M2C tower braces so I have actually gone back to stock.

Thanks for your feedback, really appreciated.

If you want good wing mounts you want the ones from @3d-rc.myshopify.com. Aluminum mounts can destroy your bulkhead and everything else they touch since they transfer energy to places not meant to get so much energy.

Swapped out the DumboRC receiver and replaced with a FlySky - what a f*** on. To get the aerial out, you have to remove the battery tray. To do that, bumper off, bash bar off to expose the screws which means undoing the braces - then do the reverse to put it all back together again.

However, the man cave TV helps pass the time 👍😬

Anyway, new RX/TX will allow me to set the endpoints properly which is good 👍

Worked on the front and back ends today - M2C droop screws fitted (which come with the chassis) and the Vitavon front steering blocks and rear hubs.

The quality of the Vitavon stuff is excellent - really impressed.

Next is joining everything back together and not forgetting to put the centre dog bones in 😜

Not much progress today but did get the Scorched front hinge pin holder on which is very nice and shiny!

Made some decent progress tonight - front and rear are onto the chassis. Fitted the CRCU brace (which is very pretty).

Next have fitted the MuratRC light kit and a switch so I can…errrr switch the lights on and off 👍😬

Just waiting on some bits and bobs to come from eBay and then it should be all buttoned up.

Might have to look into these lights. I love the Polo kits, but I don't want to cut my bodies for my rigs anymore to fit lights.

Yeah these ones don’t require any body cutting 👍
Rebuild completed and brief test with the lights on! This thing is a bit of a tank now!
