Evening all
Been around for a while and finally decided to start a build thread. I'll try and write this as best as I can, and try to make sense lol.
Decided to purchase my mates Arrma collection after realising a FTX carnage wasnt for me.
Sold them all and kept the Kraton and Typhon. Typhon is my sons and runs a dream, but the Kraton... was dog rough from the start.
First thing I did was to replace the diffs due to them never been done.
I then decided to replace the bent motor mount for a scorched one. However, this didn't work well as you can see from the images. It all seemed to go down hill from this point.
Ended up using a dremal, cutting and drilling but still struggled to get it working right with the new mount. Pinion would always come loose no matter what I tried, or the mesh would be a nightmare to get right.
Ended up buying the standard mount along with a new spur gear and the 3rd pinion I bought (Tekno) which was more narrow then the original Arrma one.
This took months of learning the Arrma car itself and working out what parts to buy. Different version of Kraton models etc
So after a lot of stressful nights, and money spent. I purchased a new skin to tidy the chassis and thought I could drive into the sunset, and enjoy the car finally
However the car ran fine, for 5 minutes after going full speed into a kerb that was hiding behind grass
The car decided to pop bolts and crack the diff housing case. This took ages to work out as I replaced front and rear diffs thinking the problem of grinding noise was coming from inside the diffs themselves.
So after replacing front and rear housing and full diffs. The car ran!!!
Was over the moon and finally enjoyed the first proper run after 6 months of failure. I knew the steering setup was rubbing but chose to ignore the warning signs.
This backfired and destroyed my new servo after an hour of use.
Role onto today and new servo installed, M2C brace on route, new transmitter and along with a few other bits that I'll put on once sorted. ☺
Might have woffled on a bit and missed bits out but that's my story so far
lot of tears, cuts and naughty words since owning the vehicle.
Finally on the path to have a proper basher!!
Thanks for reading chaps
