kraton 6s with castle creations 2200 kv motor and monster max 6s esc motor temps have never gotten above 115 degrees on logs or the laser temp gun logs have shown esc temps around 170 so with 50 tooth spur i have run as large as a 30 tooth pinion everything ive read online and people i have talked in person too have said the 2200kv castle motor will run too hot in a kraton and even guys with 1717 combo reccomend against larger pinion than a 20 keeping in mind the 30 tooth combo is for on road straight line running with method rc belted all terrains but when im off road i have the smaller backflip lps and use a 26tooth pinion everything stayas really cool but according to everybody else that motor esc combo isnt meant for the heavy kraton and my pinion size is way too big my temps should be through the roof but never been above 115 on motor and 173 on esc i have two fans inbstalleed on 1515 motor but have never even plugged them in... am i missing something
ps with a 30 tooth pinion rips scary fast if i snap the throttle at 80mph letsa just say glad i got a wheelie bar lol

A 30T pinion on 2200kv and 6s is would be friggin wild and there is no way the motor could stay cool...what do the ESC logs show for amp draw?
 
Welcome to the forum! 26T & 30T are big gears for your application for sure. But if it works for you and the way you drive go for it.

I've got a Kraton 6S with a Castle Creations 2200KV motor and Monster Max 6S ESC. The motor temps have never gone above 115 degrees, whether measured by logs or a laser temp gun, and the logs show ESC temps around 170 degrees. I'm running a 50-tooth spur and have used up to a 30-tooth pinion.

NEVER REALLY CHECKED ESC AMP DRAW IM CURIOUS TOO NOW ILL HAVE TO LOOK AT SAVED LOGS RIPPLE VOLTAGE WAS ALARMINGLY HIGH AT ABOVE 3 VOLTS

If it is working for you, I would run it the way it is. Yes, you could go up in gearing if the temps are in check.

I am really curios what they say, because even if you were "only" running a 26T and Backflip LP for offroad you'd still be geared for about 110mph.
Maybe the ESC is power limiting and that's why it heats up but the motor stays cool?

Higher then wanted temps will occur with 2200KV motor on a K6s. You want no higher than 14T pinion. This may be as high as you want with 2200kv.
A temp gun in hand to decide for yourself what gearing is appropriate.
