Hello! I rarely ever post stuff like this but was in the giving mood and wanted to help other Kraton 8s owners. I first saw this on Rich Duper's Kraton... loved the idea. So giving credit where due. A few links below to amazon for carbon tubes, and the tube cutter I used that worked great. I love the idea of this carbon tube "exo-skeleton" support. Should greatly reduce the bending of the aluminum brace on big hits and bashing. Hope this helps... Enjoy!

Basic Steps:

1. Cutdown the carbon tube to match. I chose to cover the entire red anodized aluminum tube for maximum flex reduction.
2. I used a $15 ridged tube cutter, which worked great. There will be some torn fibers on the inside of the tube (unavoidable unless you have a sacrificial wooden dowel of something on the inside to support it). No big deal.
3. Quick touch up sand of the edges, 45 degree chamfer, and I rolled up a piece of sandpaper and sanded the inside of the tube as well.
4. Disconnect the ends of the support rod on one side and push through the carbon tube. Make sure to start at the end of the tube that you did not cut. This will so in smoother.
5. Re-connect the end piece and reinstall.

You will have enough carbon tubing to support the other 2 pieces, but I was only interested in the top support. Plus I kind of like the red anodized finish. =)

Parts:
14mm x 12mm x 500mm carbon tube (2 pack)

I mention this back on Dec 4th. Unless you have a youtube channel you don’t get credit for anything...
I picked up my k8s yesterday and going to start a thread here about what I plan to do to it. First thing, I must say is this truck is really really nice. Build quality, fit and finish is better (at least mine) than my 6s vehicles. One shock is leaking though...There are a couple low cost tweaks I see which can be done. I might, down the road make a chassis but plan to just stiffen this set up.

First is super simple. 16x12mm carbon fiber tubing fits right over the braces. Nice and tight slip fit. This stuff is super strong, stiff and will add a lot of support without adding much weight. Also making 7075 skids and extending them to the next bolt hole on the chassis.

The car is fine with the motor it comes with but before you even put a battery in, increase the punch, and find a 23t (maybe bigger) pinion. It is not exciting out of the box. I’m going to change to a 5692 Hobbystar motor but no 8mm pinion yet. This will compensate for the trucks portly size. The smaller motor pictured is similar size to stock (4585). Rcjuice had a cyber Monday sale in I could not resist a 5692 motor for $102 shipped.

I used a thin cut off wheel in a Dremel while spinning it in my lathe. I’m sure if you draw I line around it you could get a nice straight cut while rolling it on a bench.

Nice, good job.

It does look pimp w the carbon finish, and I bet it has to be super rigid now w that extra reinforcement.
