1. Anyone know if there is a way to tell if I have a DX2e or DX3 version (without the original box handy)? I have 2 versions of the manual, one for each... I'm not even sure it matters, but I want to make sure I have the right one, because...

2. The Kraton 8S is the first pre-assembled R/C I've ever purchased, and I'm used to having a step-by-step assembly manual to rely on when disassembling for repair or maintenance. I just find the exploded views they provide these days with RTR cars to be difficult to use as a guide for this, especially without the knowledge gained from an initial assembly.

Maybe I'm a dinosaur, but I hate learning anything with YouTube videos too. Is there anything like this available, or maybe even someone knows of a user that made one? Thank you.

The 8s line is a pig to work on. Once you start to tear down you’ll get a feel for what screws go where, a lot of similar lengths used in multiple places so it’s hard to mess up.

Before you run it tear it down and make sure the diffs have enough fluid in them!

It really is. I don't really have enough workspace & it's just uncomfortable as a result. It reminds me a little of my old E-Revo too, where you have to disassemble too much to get at certain things. It's been a beast & has taken a good beating, and now I have to get to some big ticket maintenance tasks I've been neglecting. I'm still considering replacing it with a 6S...the big sucker is a hassle in many ways, but once I get the radio in hand, I'm grinning like an idiot..

Anyway, while I wait for a new alloy servo mount from GPM, I started rebuilding the shocks, but what would you recommend I go to while I am working on the steering? I hesitate to pull apart too much because then the chances of leaving it in the closet for 5 months is greatly increased lol ... need to work on specific areas & put it back together.

The hubs & pillow balls & whatever that assembly is officially called is looking pretty ratty ... but I couldn't even get that apart because I don't have the right wrench. I tried to order a tool kit, but got scammed. Do you know the size of the largest hex wrench required? I need to loosen the black plastic thing.

I’ve found that power tools on the k8s are your friend, off the top of my head I think the majority of the hexes are 3mm. Power tools are great for disassembly, you can use it for reassembly too. Just make sure you do the final tightening by hand so you don’t strip the plastics.
