What did you different?
Go bigger than the 45T you had on there??

Hi ... Can can you explain how this new esc is rated for a 1450kv motor? I googled the esc and saw one site saying its not meant for anything over 800kv or something close to that. Thanks !

I see that statement posted on sellers description’s of the ZTW ESC. I think they don’t want people buying them with high KV motors and burning them up and then trying to claim an issue with the ESC.

KV isn’t really a spec you should be concerned with. You need to look at Amps and Voltz.

This motor can fry this ESC, and I might do just that in the process of speed running.

It's not about what it's rated for but how much I can get away with before puff the magic dragon.. :ROFLMAO:

Well guys, upped the pinion to a 55 and this thing was really going. Apparently I found the limits of the Beast ESC at 72 mph. :ROFLMAO: Blew past me and then a puff of black smoke. Not sure I want to spend $800 on an MGM just to see how fast it will go.... my guess is well into the 80mph range if I were to go that route.

Apparently the ZTW burst numbers are B.S. I rolled on the throttle and when I hit full throttle flames came out the back.

For anyone casually browsing this thread. I still recommend a ZTW ESC. I knew the motor I bought pulled way more amps than the ESC is rated for. I wanted to give it a try. The fault is my own. A lower KV motor paired with this ESC is a fantastic combo.

Warranty it up!

I have a few tp TP motors. My favorite is 5860 1000kv 12s sensored motor. I run it on 12s in sensored mode with MGM40063 and 25063 esc's. The 1450 kv 5860 motor you got is a 450 amp motor. The ZTW on 8s is rated for 200amps. So your motor is over spec for your esc, that's a big no no. Not to mention I have fired several ZTW esc with tp 5870 800kv 12s 200amp motor on 12s . You would of been better off running a TP 5660 1460 kv rated at 280 amps. With the 5660 1460kv I hit 86 mph easily with XLX in kraton 8s with 34 pinion 34 spur. Just remember if your ever gonna run 8s XLX is the best ever speed run 8s esc ever. Never try to run a ZTW 300 amp 12s esc without a ZTW 680kv motor, ZTW released a disclaimer on that matter after 100's of esc burned up worldwide.

ZTW warrantied the ESC and I was able to get a new one, which I sold. I also sold the 1450kv TP 5860 motor. The 1450kv is just too many amps. I like the idea of the 1000kv 5860 on 12s.
The 5860 motor isn't necessary on the 8s platform, too much torque for a 25lb platform and top's out at 50,000 rpm.
Not sure what I will try next. I have a TP4070cm 1550kv 12s motor I would like to try. The specs say 9,000 watts so that should be plenty of torque. Thoughts?

Yeah the 1460 5860 is way to much for any 8s esc. But the 5860 1000kv is pretty good on 8s. I run it with XLX in my x maxx that does 99mph. I know its hard to believe but the video is on YouTube. 4070 motors are for 1/8 scale platforms. I would avoid putting that in kraton 8s at all cost.
