I used to seize motors before esc shut down. have fans on motor now and don't go as mad when its hot out

Space on my EZRUN 1650KV & M2C chassis is also more than limited, the cable ties just fit!

Just got back from a run, the 4985 just gets hot. Dirt, grass, pavement it just runs hot. Also makes the esc hot. My Hobbystar 4092 1480kv ran cool all the time it just felt slow on a 21t pinion. The HW 4985 1650kv with 17t definitely has more pep. Maybe I should go back to the Hobbystar and gear it up more while it’s summertime. Any suggestions on gearing with the 1480kv?

I also checked the alza mount. I just don't have any space between the chassis and motor to use a zip-tie….
I couldn't fit the zip ties but 55/60mm hose clamp works just right and keeps the motor with fans tight. Raising the fan from the heatsink was the solution for me, and lowered the temperature a lot.

I run a Sanyo SanAce 40 fan on both my Kraton EXB and v3 Talion. Both rigs run the Max6 with 4985 motor (22/46 gearing on the Talion). They do a great job of keeping the ESC happy.
