Hi
Im looking to upgrade the stock BLX 4074 2050kv motor to a Leopard 4092 but not sure whether I should get the 1730kv or the 2080kv Leopard 4092 motor to run 6s Lipo.

I know you can gear up the 1730kv but why bother gearing up if you will get the same amount of torque as the lower kv leopard motor at higher kv?

I know heat is a reason for the lower kv but the stock 2050kv motor runs just fine on 6s so why wouldnt the 4092 2080kv motor run just as well on 6s?

The 4092 can should run cooler than the stock motor as it's a longer motor. I put the Leopard 4082 in my Kraton and the temps went down from the stock motor temps. Plus, that small of a KV change (2050 to 2080) shouldn't make much of any difference at all.

If your not having temp issues and like the speed then stick with the 2080kv.

I got the 4082 1600kv motor because I was having heat issues with the stock Kraton in the dead of summer. I also bumped up a tooth in the pinion to compensate the KV's a bit.

Where are you sourcing a 4092 2080kV? I was sure the LBP4092 only goes up to 1730kV and even this is only rated for 20V due to the maximum rated RPM being 35-40,000.
If you can source a 2000+kV 4092 can check the RPM limit or you'll blow the rotor on 6S.

That's a big difference from 2050kv to 1600kv on the 4082, how is the performance on the 4082 vs the stock Arrma motor?

My buddy has one in his boat and is selling it, used but in great condition.
It seems it works great on 6s:

The 4082 Leopard is a beast compared to stock the stock motor! There's a ton of torque in that motor and being a longer can than stock, it doesn't get as hot either... the lower kv's help too.

Are you gonna buy the 4092?

Im going to buy the 4092 @ 2080kv
Im hoping its a beast on 6s

Old post, but 1730 are mpre then enough..and handles more then we can imagine..yet the 1730kv are rated for 20v only. Ibe been running 6s for years..habe 4 of them none broken..even running 8s! On them
