So you decided to get a hobby that didn't cost as much.......

:)

Nah @LibertyMKiii , while many of your posts were towards speed runs, (Which is great, but am not set up for any of that in the mountains), you always had good insight and advice. Cant you keep just one ?? Train the next generation with RC first, then ......

I still have my son's Traxxas Slash 2wd and the 200+ project. (unless someone buys it)

This was another factor.... In Texas where we used to live that was a problem. Where we moved in Tennessee they don't seem to care at all. There is no inspection of any sort on cars. Not even safety, seatbelts, lights etc. Nothing!!!
So I can pretty much do what I want which means a full stand alone Holley EFI system.
Freedom! Wow, can hardly say that word in NY.

Grats dude! Whatever you build, I'm sure its gunna be pretty fast! (y)

For now it is just a mass of iron and aluminum that makes my wife really upset. (due to the space it takes up in the garage) I believe that is my new compass in life. If it makes my wife really mad then its probably the project that will make me happiest.

I really wish I could build 1.1 rod again. My problem is I'd get a ticket for being on slicks with open exhaust and no plate before I pulled out of my hood. :ROFLMAO:

Electric cut outs!!! I plan to run a very quiet muffler and then flip the switch to a cut out.

Yep I was very excited and this was part of the reason I wanted to move forward with this project.
I am going to do some pretty extreme things and DOT restrictions limit the fun

Well,,,,,,,,, yes you can, just have to know how to go about it... 🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫🤫

Be very careful with the placement of the 02's if you're running these.. I won't touch them with a 12 ft pole and that guy's buddy holding it... They cause all kinds of issues.. people usually don't think this process all the way through ..

Any, and I mean any added fresh oxygen the 02's see the ECM will start upping duty cycles to save itself..

Good choice swapping out the cam.. hope you get good lifter's.. 😂

Maybe get a 2jz

Up scaling, I like. I sort of did the opposite. I used to play with big cars, but it's a lot of work, a lot of time, a lot of money and the cost of failure is pretty high. So no I play with little cars. But I still appreciate the big toys very much.

And I too look forwards to seeing your build logs!

Yeah I watching a tuning video last night that talked about this issue.
I'll have to research more about how long the piping needs to be before it causes issues (y)

Some of you may have noticed I sold off most of my RC stuff and slowly making my exit from the hobby.
I will say I like this community(Family) and will continue to come here daily to help and share advice.

Long before I got into RC cars I was always a sports car guy. I had not been able to afford to play with sports cars when we were having kids and I was young in my career, so I dabbled into RC cars.
As you well know RC cars and the pursuit of speed became an obsession for me. We are done having kids and they are out of diapers and baby formula/ growing up and my career has stabilized so I found it was time to try sports cars again.

I know there are quite a few car guys on the forum so I figured I would share what I have planned and purchased so far and we can chat about it.

The plan is to take a modern chassis like a Scion FR-S / Toyota 86 / Subaru BR-Z or possibly an RX-8 and wedge a big LS swap into it. The concept is simple.... mix the great handling JDM with big displacement chevy motor that has tons of aftermarket support. While the LS swap is played out you just cant beat it dollar for dollar.

Yesterday I took delivery of a LQ9 6.0L from an Escalade that had 102k miles.

Initial review of the engine harness etc

My 12 yr old son is very excited about this project and worked with me till 10:30 last night on removing the wiring harness and the intake manifold/fuel system. We pulled the valve cover to reveal that the motor is very clean inside. Wooo hoo!

Wow, @LibertyMKiii I’ve been avoiding the Classifieds like the plague lately, so I hadn’t noticed. Sports cars are the bees knees, and the most fun I’ve ever had with a non-female object. Glad you’ll still be hanging around. Looking forward to seeing your progress and I’m psyched that you get to go back to 1:1’s!!! Good luck and Godspeed, my friend! Be careful out there.
Maybe get a 2jz
Way ahead of you…
