Here is a very cheap modification you can do to your ARRMA limitless. This will work for the v1 and v2 limitless. All you need is two Lipo trays from the (v2) because these trays are shorter than the earlier v1 limitless trays.
As you see in the photos, they both fit perfectly and I will show to how I did it.
The rear tray will fit with out modification, but you will need to drill new holes on your aluminum chassis plate in order to accommodate the (new) screw hole positions of the āshorterā Lipo tray. The second tray that goes at the front of the car will need some material removed from the back end of the tray in order to not rubb against the steering post. Donāt worry, you still get to use the back slider on the Lipo tray, and that slider will rest exactly next to a plastic molding on the chassis, and you will need to trim just a nudge off of that molding which is unnoticeable and will not compromise anything, as the Lipo tray being installed will accommodate for the part you cut out.
Those sliders that go on the back of each Lipo tray, you are going to swap them from tray to tray. The reason is that both sliders have a sharp angle on one side but not the other.. This angle is to match the same angle on the outer edge of the aluminum chassis. Swapping the sliders will mean that the large hump next to the steering post will not push the Lipo tray upwards when trying to screw it down. This means the tray will fit flush.
Lastly you will have to grind away some material from the faces of both trays where they both meet and make contact face to face. I only had to remove material from one of the trays but because we are drilling by hand, tolerances will vary. I also cut off the last stub off of the second tray because it is an obvious obstruction.
I did this mod bcs I need my trays to hold my custom skirts and I donāt want to bolt them directly to the chassis because the skirts will end up facing up like two wings on a plane. I feel itās going to catch wind. Plus it will ruin my design. Also even if you have to buy two v2 trays itās still much cheaper than buying anything else. Stock trays give you the best support and protection against impacts and crashes. As Iāve seen lipos sent flying from just Velcro and one strap with no security.
